Here is a look at the card I designed using the NEW Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Coffee or Tea? SS-023 stamp set and coordinating Stamp Simply Steel Dies - Coffee or Tea? SS-DIE011.  I also used some of the beautiful papers from Kaisercraft Letters to Santa.

Here is a look at the new stamp and die set.  The stamp set is filled with so many great sentiments and verses.  The die set is really fun because it allows you to build your cups.  So if you want to use different colors or patterns for the cup and the handle you can.  I think the font is so pretty on the word dies and I love the tiny tag too.  Also some of the sentiments are just the perfect size to fit in the tiny tag.

To start, I picked out the pattern paper for the cup and the handle.  The image of Santa is a punch out that is included in the paper pad.  I also took two strips of the red paper with the polk-a-dots that were 1/2" x 6 1/2" and scored the paper every 1/4".  Then I folded the paper and adhered the two ends.  This is the base for the rosette.  Position the paper so the polk-a-dot side is face up and then push towards to the center to create the rosette shape.  Add a bit of hot glue to hold in place.

Here you can see the coffee cup once it is assembled.  I used Delicata Golden Glitz Ink to ink all the edges of the coffee cup, handle, rosette, and image of Santa.  

Next, I wanted to stamp the sentiment in the upper corner of the pattern paper.  I used the EK Success powder tool the prep the area before doing the heat embossing.  Doing this assures you only end up with the embossing powder in the areas you want it.  I used the Tim Holtz Tonic Stamp Platform to stamp my sentiment and have perfect placement. 

I added Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder to the stamp sentiment and used a heat tool to melt and heat set the powder.

Here is a close up of the embossed sentiment on the card.  For the tiny little gold beaded pearls I added some Zig Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen for some sparkle and then I added a drop of Ranger Glossy Accents on each of them.  I also used some of the My Mind's Eye Charmed Enamel Dots in gold for embellishments on the card.

Here is a look at the cup on the front of the card.  I also added some on the enamel dots along the bottom under the cup.

To finish off the card I added the card front to a white A2 top folding card base.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Give Thanks Card with Distress Oxide Technique and Tutorial

Hello everyone and happy Friday!  I don't know about you but for me it seems like this week just flew by.  School is back in full swing and Fall is in the air here in Minnesota.  The temps are getting down into the 50s and 40s at night.  It's perfect sweatshirt weather.  Today, I have a technique to share with you using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks, a stencil, and some water.  It's a fun, quick, and easy technique for creating a beautiful background with color and depth.

Here is the card I designed.  I love the beautiful mix of colors and it reminds me of Fall leaves.

I started by applying the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks - Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Abandoned Coral, Peeled Paint, and Walnut Stain to a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper.  I used Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tools to apply the ink and I did all of the ink blending on the Craft Mat.  I wanted to share this first picture with you so you could see how the paper looks after applying the first layer of color.  Right now it looks like a hot mess and has sharp edges of color--but that's ok.  I know when it comes to ink blending a lot of people put one layer of ink down and then they get discouraged because it doesn't look good.  To achieve a nice soft blend that looks like the colors just melt into each other the ink blending has to be done in layers. 

Here is the ink blending once I was done.  There is a big difference between the two pictures.  I repeated the ink blending three times and each time I used a lighter touch.  Hopefully seeing these two pictures is helpful to achieving a nice soft ink blended background.

Next, I taped down the Tim Holtz Tiles Layering Stencil to hold it in place.  Then I used the Distress Sprayer to apply water to the top left corner.  I carefully lifted up the stencil and used a paper towel to blot up the excess water.  The Distress Oxide Inks react with the water so you will get a really nice background with the stencil design.  I used a heat tool to speed up the drying time and then I repeated the process in the lower right corner.

Here is the end result.  I love how you can see the pattern from the stencil but the pattern and lines aren't perfect and it gives the paper depth.

I wanted to do some heat embossing in the lower corner so I used the EK Success Powder Tool to make sure the embossing powder would only stick where I wanted it too.

To stamp the sentiment I used the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform from Tonic.  I made sure that I had the cover of the platform on the Clear side which allows me to easily use clear stamps.  I used the two magnets to hold the paper in place and lined up my stamp, closed the lid to pick up the clear stamp, applied ink and closed the lid to stamp.  The sentiment is from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Harvest SS-010 set and I used VersaMark Ink.

Here is a close up of the corner to see the sentiment.  For the heat embossing is used Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.

I applied a piece of May Arts Brown 5/8" Twill ribbon across the front of the watercolor panel.  Then I added some May Arts Brown Burlap String, a leaf, and flower from Petaloo Botanica Yellow Blooms collection.  I used hot glue to quickly apply everything in a nice little cluster on the background paper.

To finish off the card I applied the watercolor background to a white A2 top folding card base.  Using the Distress Oxide Inks, water, and a stencil you can create some really fun backgrounds.  I hope you enjoyed today's tutorial and that you'll give it a try.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Autumn Distress Oxide Ink Smooshing Card with Tutorial

Hello blogging friends!  I know on the calendar it's still summer but I have to tell you it's looking a lot like Autumn here in Minnesota--at least in my driveway lol.  The oak trees have let loose with the acorns!  Basically it's stand outside at your own risk lol.  My grandpa has always said if the acorns fall early we are in for an early and long winter.  I hope not but I guess we'll see.  Regardless of the calendar it's never too early to work on cards and craft projects for the next season.  Today, I have a pretty Autumn card and tutorial to share with you.

I finally had a chance to play with some of the new Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks.  I have to say I love them just as much as the first set--maybe even a little more lol.  The colors are so pretty in the second set.  For my card I used the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Harvest SS-010 and Stamp Simply Steel Dies - Harvest SS-DIE006 from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

For the background I did the ink smooshing technique.  To start, apply Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks - Twisted Citron, Wild Honey, Abandoned Coral on to the Craft Mat.  Then, mist water on the inks using the Distress Sprayer Bottle.

Next, take a piece of  Ranger Watercolor paper and smoosh it down onto the ink.  I usually hold one of the corners and then press the paper down with my other hand.  Lift up the paper and then use a heat tool to dry the paper and heat set the inks.  This is what my paper looked like after smooshing it in the ink one time.

Repeat the process until you achieve the desired look.  Be sure to use your heat tool to dry and heat set the paper after each time of smooshing it into the ink.  I repeated the process probably about seven or eight times.  If you want you can also add more ink and mist again with water.

Next, I used the EK Success Powder tool on the background so I wouldn't have excess embossing powder sticking to the paper.  Then, I stamped the leaves using VersaMark Ink and heat embossed using Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The background is so pretty and I didn't want to waste it so I stamped the leaves in the center of the paper so when I do the die cutting I can still use the paper.

Here are the leaves after I die cut them using the Stamp Simply Steel Dies - Harvest SS-DIE006.  Don't forget to keep the background piece.  It will be great for layering.

I applied the background piece to the card front and then I will cover it with a piece of kraft paper leaving a pretty border.

For the May Arts - Brown Burlap String I wrapped it around my fingers five times and then cut another piece and tied a knot to hold everything in place.

To assemble all of the leaves, string and flower I used hot glue.   First I put the burlap string in place.  Then I added the flower and finished with the leaves.  The flower is from the Petaloo Burlap Wild Sunflowers.  I used brown cardstock for the A2 card base.  To finish off the card I added a few Simple Stories We are Family Enamel Dots.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Harvest Background with Oxide Inks and Gold Embossing

Hello everyone!  Today, I have a colorful Fall card to share with you using some of the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks.  I just can't get enough of the Oxide Inks!  They are so easy to work with and blend so beautifully to create backgrounds.

Here is the card I designed.  With the Oxide Inks and the  Stamp Simply Clear Stamps it is so fun to create your own pattern paper.

To start, I placed a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper on my Craft Mat with the smooth side up.  I used the Mini Ink Blending Tools to apply the ink.  I started with the lightest color and worked my way to the darkest color.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks - Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint, Fired Brick, Vintage Photo.  After the first layer on inks and went back and blended more ink into the paper for a smooth blended look.

I used the Distress Sprayer Bottle to add water droplets to the paper and then I used a paper towel to blot up the excess water.  After achieving the look I wanted I used a heat tool to dry the paper.

After the paper was good and dry I used the  EK Success Powder Tool to go over the entire piece of paper.  The powder tool is great to use when you are heat embossing.  It keeps the embossing powder only where you stamp so you won't have excess embossing powder on your paper.  

Next I stamped both of the leaves from the  Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Harvest SS-010 with VersaMark Ink.  Then I applied Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and used my heat tool to melt and heat set the powder.  I just love how the gold embossing looks on the paper.

The sentiment I used is from the Harvest SS-010 stamp set and I used VersaMark Ink and Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder to heat emboss.  I cut the background piece down in size for a card front and then I added the piece of black cardstock with the sentiment.  Then I added some May Arts - Sage Burlap String and a Petaloo Botanica Collection Sugared Minis Gold/Sienna flower.

To finish off the card I added Foam Tape to the back of the card front and then I adhered that piece to a black A2 top folding card.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Give Thanks Card with Ink Smooshing Technique

Hello everyone!  I can't believe we are already over half way through the month of July!  It won't be long and Fall will be here before we know it.  Isn't it funny when we are little time seems like forever and then we get older and it just seems to fly by.  I guess it's never too early to get busy in the studio/craft room and start creating for the next season or holiday.  Today, I have a Fall card to share with you and a tutorial for ink smooshing (a very technical term lol) with a piece of acetate.

Here is a look at the card I designed.  Oh and check out the leaf and acorns.  The stamp set Give Thanks SS-009 from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps was a release from last year but now there are coordinating dies for the stamp set so that is really cool.  No more fussy cutting.  :) 

Now I know it is hard to see in the photo but there is a piece of acetate where the ink is.  I smooshed down the corners of the ink pads to apply ink to the piece of acetate.  For my card I am using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks - Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, Vintage Photo, and Walnut Stain.  Then lightly mist the ink with water using the Distress Sprayer.

Carefully pick up the piece of acetate, turn it over, and smoosh it down onto a piece of Ranger Watercolor Paper.  Use a heat tool to dry the paper and repeat the ink smooshing until you reach the desired look.  You can wipe off the piece of acetate, add more ink, mist and smoosh it onto the paper as needed.  I did about 4 layers of ink on my paper.

Next, I used the Distress Sprayer to add water droplets on my paper.  I let the water sit on the paper for a few seconds and then use a paper towel to blot up the water.  I used the heat tool to dry the paper again.

Here is a look at the paper after adding the water droplets.

I want to add some heat embossing the the paper so I made sure it was good and dry and then I used the EK Success Powder Tool.  This is a great little tool that adds a small amount of powder to your paper and helps so you will only have embossing powder where you want it.  

I used VersaMark Ink to stamp the leaf and the acorn from the Give Thanks SS-009 stamp set onto the watercolor background and then added Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder and used a heat tool to melt and heat set the powder.

I used the new Stamp Simply Steel Dies Give Thanks SS-DIE005 to die cut the leaves and acorn.  I have a few extra die cuts and I'll save those for another card.

For the card front I  am using a piece of ivory cardstock and I inked the outer edges of the paper with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks - Peeled Paint.

I cut a piece of pattern paper from the Graphic 45 Vintage Hollywood 8 x 8 paper pad.  Then I inked the outer edges of the paper with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks - Spiced Marmalade which is a perfect match to the paper.

I added the pattern paper to the bottom half of the card front.  Then I tied on a piece of  May Arts Brown Silk Ribbon and frayed the ends a little bit.  I added some Foam Tape to the back of the leaf and one of the acorns for some dimension.  I added some KaiserCraft Chocolate Pearls to embellish the card.  THEN...   ...well I am sure we have all been there when we look at our card and think---just one more thing.  Yes, this is that card.  I should have stopped where I was at but I got a little ahead of myself and I wanted to add some shimmer.  So I added Zig Wink of Stella Gold Glitter Brush Pen to the leaf and the acorns.  I knew within the first couple of strokes of the brush I should have held back lol.  But there was no turning back and I had to commit to it.  Adding the  Zig Wink of Stella reactivated the inks.  So I lost some of the pretty vibrant colors.  But on the upside there is lots of sparkle.  :)

To finish off the card I added the card front to a brown A2 top folding card base.
