October Design-abilities Blog Hop - Trick Or Treat Wall Hanging

Hello and welcome to the first Design-abilities Blog Hop!  We are the Spellbinders® Blog Team and we wanted to do something fresh, fun and creative to bring our team together.  But before we get started we want to let you know this blog hop is just for fun and creative inspiration we are not sponsored by Spellbinders Paper Arts®.  Starting this month we are going to do a Blog Hop every other month (on the 16th) and we will have a link list to all of the Designer.  Sometimes we might not all be able to participate but we would still encourage you to visit all of the Blog Team Members and check out their blogs.  You will find all kinds of ideas for die cutting, papercrafting, mixed media, DIY projects, jewelry, home decor, lots of tutorials and techniques.  As designers we are always inspired by each other and we hope to inspire you too.

For my project I altered a 5 x 5 frame for Halloween.  I love to decorate for Halloween and this little altered frame is the perfect home decor piece.  I painted the frame with black acrylic paint.  Then I added a piece of pattern paper to the center.  I used S4-126 Classic Squares LargeS4-295 Lacey Squares die templates to die cut the cute little witch image.  All of the pattern paper is from the Authentique Thrilling 6 x 6 paper pad.  I used 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® in between the die cut layers.

I added a fun flower cluster in the top corner using some of the WOC Flowers in Halloween colors.  To create the leaves I used S2-049 Corner Sprigs.  The little leaf sprig die cuts are perfect to use with the flowers and the size of the leaves is just right.  I think this might be my favorite new die template set! I also added some diamond Stickles for a little sparkle.

On the side of the frame I added another flower cluster, some Black Seam Binding and a MB3-001S Circle Hatpin-Silver.  The image in the hatpin is also from the Authentique Thrilling 6 x 6 paper pad.  I also added a few beads to the hatpin.

To create the hatpin I used the MD1-007 Circles One die template to die cut the image.  Then I added a little glossy accents in the hatpin and added the image.  To top it off I added a clear epoxy circle sticker.  I have had these stickers for a few years and I am not sure which company they are from but I am sure if you do a goggle search these will pop up.

Here is a close up of the hatpin.

Please be sure to visit all of the Blog Team Members in the link list below to see what they have created to share with you.  Seth, wasn't able to join us this month but please hop on over and check out his blog too--he has some really inspiring designs!

Thank you for joining us today and we hope you enjoy the blog hop!  Please be sure to join us
December 16th for our next blog hop.

Hugs & Smiles,
Heidi

Spellbinders and Flourishes Blog Hop - Birthday Pennants

When Flourishes first laid eyes on two of the brand new die sets fresh off the production line at Spellbinders, we just knew that we needed a stamp set to coordinate with these funky and fresh dies Are you ready to take a peek? This fun set just screams celebration and offers 6 different pennants and flags all designed to coordinate perfectly with Spellbinders Nested Pennants (S5-028)& Spellbinders Lacey Nested Pennants (S5-029). There are also 9 sentiments and 8 accents in the set that you can use to deck out your pennant shapes in fun and different ways! Want a little more to coordinate with your cards? How about our new Strips and Stripes background set? This set offers three strips to use together as one background or separate as three different strips that coordinate with our Birthday Pennants set! Since the set was just released last night, we can show you it in its entirety now!Because we just knew this set was a match made in heaven with the Spellbinder's Pennant Dies, we asked some of their ever-so-talented designers to join the Flourishes team for a little show and tell! Make sure to hop on over and see....
Would you like to win these sets? Just leave a comment here on this post! We'll draw one lucky name for both sets and announce it tomorrow on the Flourishes blog! Here is the card that I designed using the Birthday Pennants stamp set from Flourishes.I used the Grand Calibur™, S5-028 Nested Pennants and S5-029 Nested Lacey Pennants to cut/emboss the pennant shapes. I stamped the floral print stamp using Tuxedo Black ink and edges the pennants with Dusk Blue ink. I layered the pennants and used 3D Foam Squares from SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES By 3L™ to add some dimension. Next I stamped the sentiment and hand cut them and inked the edges with Tuxedo Black ink and Silver Stickles.I added a banner across the top with a beautiful Finesse Swirl Black Rhinestones from Want2Scrap. I stamped a border with the accent stamps from Birthday Pennants along the top and bottom of the card and added a few more black rhinestones. I tied hand tinted crinkle seam binding in between each pennant piece.I used the Grand Calibur™ and LF-168 Grand Labels Large to create the shape card. I used 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue™ from Beacon Adhesives™ to adhere all the paper pieces. I also added a little sparkle with Silver Stickles.

This is one of the NEW Releases, By The Sea from JustRite Stampers. The images are so Beautiful and they will work for so many different occasions. The stamp set includes 4 Designer Centers and 4 Interchangeable Borders and the stamps work with the 2-1/4'' x 3-1/16" Oval Stamper. Here is the card I created using the By The Sea stamp set from JustRite Stampers.I started by stamping the image onto Pure Luxury, Pure White cardstock with Rich Cocoa Ink and then I colored the image with Copic markers. All of the images from By The Sea are so fun to color!Once I had the image colored then I made a diecut using Deckled Edge Classic Ovals Large S4-259, Die #4 from Spellbinders™ and then I inked the edges with Vintage Photo ink.Using the Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen from Sakura I added a little sparkle to the seashells. The sentiment on the border reads: If you want to know how much I love you... ...count the waves. I wanted to add the look of waves so I used Flourish Accents S4-198 die templates from Spellbinders™ to create two diecuts. I started out with white cardstock and then lightly colored over the flourish with Copic marker BG72, then I went over the entire piece with the colorless blender from Copic, then for the last color I used Copic marker G40 over the entire flourish. Once I had the coloring done then I added the Vintage Photo ink and I also added a little sparkle using the Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen from Sakura. Here is a close-up of the seashells.
Next I created cute little flip flops using the Surf's Up S4-272 die templates from Spellbinders™. To start I did the reverse stencil technique, to do this you just simply ink up the inside of the die template and then cut/emboss.After I made the flip flop diecuts then I embellished them using two Glaze Pens and the Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen from Sakura and Vintage Photo Ink.Here is a close-up of the flip flops.I also created an embossed mat using the Sea Shapes Impressabilities™ I2-1016 from Spellbinders™, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Crushed Shells and Coral Reef and Vintage Photo Ink. The shimmer on this piece is so pretty!Once all of the piece are colored and cut then I assembled the card. I wanted to add some dimension to the the image of the seashells and the flourishes so I used 3D Foam Squares from SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES™ by 3L.Adding the 3D Foam Square makes the image and the flourishes really pop!To adhere the card I used Craft & Photo Tape from SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES™ by 3L.

First Communion Invitations

In a couple of weeks our youngest son is going to be celebrating his first communion, he is very excited about it! I have been busy making invitations to send to family and friends and I thought I would share the invitation with you today. I love the white and ivory together with a little touch of gold and brown. I am very happy with how the card turned out and it all came together so nicely. I started with the sentiment for the card. I used Trompe Script Uppercase Font Set 50pt, Trompe Script Lowercase Font Set 50pt and 2-3/8'' x 5-1/2'' Rectangular Stamper from JustRite Stampers to create the sentiment. I wanted to use one of the tags from Fancy Tags S4-235 die templates from Spellbinders™ but I wanted to make sure the sentiment would fit on the tag so I lined up the die template on top of the stamper and it was a perfect fit. I stamped the sentiment using brown ink and white cardstock and then I used the die template as a stencil to ink through with a lighter brown ink. Next I created the background mat for the cross using the Labels Thirteen S4-248 die template and Fleur De Lis Pattern Impressabilities™ I1-235 from Spellbinders™. I used white cardstock to cut/emboss the label and the impressability. I left the cardstock in the die template and inked the embossed area with brown ink.To create the cross I used white and ivory cardstock and three crosses from the Cross Collection S4-265 die templates from Spellbinders™. I cut/embossed all three crosses and then I edged the white crosses with a Metallic Gold Gelly Roll Pen from Sakura. To add dimension to the cross I used White 3D Foam Squares from SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES™ by 3L. As you can see in the picture above I used the small 3D Foam Squares and cut them in half for the tiny spaces on the diecuts. I added the 3D Foam Squares to the top two layers of the cross.Once all of the pieces were done then I assembled the card using Craft & Photo Tape from SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES™ by 3L.Supplies~
Stamps~JustRite Stampers-Trompe Script Uppercase Font Set 50pt, Trompe Script Lowercase Font Set 50pt, 2-3/8'' x 5-1/2'' Rectangular Stamper
Paper~The Paper Company-White, Ivory
Ink~Tsukineko-Memento Rich Cocoa; Range-Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Other~Spellbinders-Wizard™, Cross Collection S4-265, Labels Thirteen S4-248 Die #6, Fancy Tags S4-235, Fleur De Lis Pattern Impressabilities™ I1-235; Sakura-Metallic Gold Gelly Roll Pen; Joann's-Gold Rhinestones; SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L-White 3D Foam Squares Regular 1/2'' x 1/2'', Small 1/4'' x 1/4'', Craft & Photo Tape 81'

On a more personal note their have been some changes in my life over the past couple of weeks.

I decided to step down from the Just For Jun Design Team and I want to say a Huge THANK YOU to Sherry Cheever, Design Team Coordinator and to the owners of Just For Fun Rubber Stamps!!! It has been wonderful working with Sherry and all the very talented ladies on the JFF DT!!! Thank You!!!

Now for some other news, I am very excited to announce I was asked to join the SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L Design Team!!! I love working with all of the different adhesives that SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L offers and I am very honor to join the Design team!!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you are having a Great Day and a Wonderful Week!!

Hugs & Smiles,
Heidi
