The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Woodgrain Happy Father's Day Card

Hello everyone!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  I have a Father's Day card to share with you along with a tutorial on how I did the ink blending for the background of the card.

Here is the card I designed.  I used the Tim Holtz Woodgrain Layering Stencil along with the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks to create the background.

I started with a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper on my Ranger Non-stick Craft Mat Sheet.  I used the Mini Ink Blending Tools and three of the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks Antique LinenPeeled PaintVintage Photo.  I went over each color two times to get a nice smooth blend.

Next, I added water droplets using the Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer.  I used a paper towel to blot up the water.

Then, I used some painters tape to hold the stencil in place.  I used a Mini Ink Blending Tool and the Walnut Stain ink with the stencil.

Here is a look at the paper after the stenciling was done.

The stenciling looked good but I wanted the colors to still look deeper so I applied a layer of the walnut stain ink over the entire piece.  I love how this turned out and that you can see all the different colors which helps to give the card more depth.

I used a sentiment from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - All Occasions Sentiments SET 2 SS-031 stamp set.  I stamped the sentiment using VersaMark Ink onto black cardstock.  Then, I applied Ranger Super Fine Embossing Powder - White and used my heat tool to melt and heat set the powder.  I love the white embossing on back cardstock--it really pops!  Then I added some of the  May Arts Satin String Leaves Olive and May Arts Satin String Leaves Rust along the bottom and at the top of the card.  I did use a little bit of hot glue behind some of the leaves to help hold the ribbon in place.  To finish off the card I added a few black My Mind's Eye Record It Charmed Enamel Dots.

I hope you enjoyed today's card share.  This is a card that could be used for several different occasions by simply switching out the sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  All of the supplies to create the card are listed and linked below and can be found at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  If you would like to see more card inspiration I encourage you to check out the Stamp Simply Blog.  There is lots of inspiration from the design team!

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Seek and You Will Find Card

Hello everyone and happy Friday!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I have a fun all occasions card to share with you using the  Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Farmhouse Scripture Quotes and some of the beautiful papers from the Graphic 45 Sun Kissed collection.

Here is a look at the card I designed.  I love the ocean and beach themed papers in this collection.  I thought this sea turtle paper worked perfectly with the sentiment.

I wanted to add a little something to the pattern paper for some interest but I didn't want it to take away from the images.  I decided to stencil over the paper except for the area with the turtle in the middle of the paper.  I wanted this to be very subtle so I used the Delicata White Shimmer Pigment Ink along with the Tim Holtz Splash Layering Stencil.  The Delicata inks are great for techniques like this because they add just a little bit of shimmer.

Here is a close up of the stenciling.  I also added Ranger Super Fine Embossing Powder - Clear and used my heat tool to melt and heat set the powders.  Do this added some shimmer and texture to the paper and it's kind of a fun surprise to see when you move the card around and the light hits it.

I added some Glossy Accents to the turtle so he would stand out just a little more.

Here is another close up and you can see I added a little more glossy accents to the tiny white bubbles.

I stamped one of the sentiments from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Farmhouse Scripture Quotes SS-026 set with VersaMark Ink onto black cardstock and then I added Ranger Super Fine Embossing Powder - White.  I used my heat tool to melt and heat set the embossing powder.  I love the white embossing on the black cardstock.  The card base is a black A2 top folding card.  I added some  Foam Tape in between the paper layers and to finish off the card I added a few Prima Say It In Crystals Zella Teal.  I love these crystals!  They are so sparkly.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed the card share.  All of the supplies to create the card are listed and linked below and can be found at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  If you would like to see more card inspiration from the design team I encourage you to visit the Stamp Simply Blog.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Always Find Hope Card

Hello everyone!  I can't tell you how good it feel to be back to creating again.  I have missed it so much.  It's been so long and might take me a little while to get back in to the swing of things but I'm working on it.  Today, I have a card to share with you.

The beautiful hydrangea image is from the Altenew - Garden Hydrangea stamp set and the sentiment is from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Farmhouse Scriptural Quotes SS-026 stamp set.  The image of the hydrangea is so beautiful and makes me think of Spring.  I know am hoping for some warmer weather and maybe I am trying to will Spring to get here.  We are supposed to get more snow this Sunday!

The stamp set is one of the great layering sets from Altenew and I used the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform to do all of the stamping. For the inks I used the Altenew 4 Cubes - Rose Petal (Rose Quartz, Puffy Heart, Purple Wine, Cosmic Berry), Green Fields (Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, Evergreen).

After all of the stamping was done I used the Altenew - Garden Hydrangea Die set to die cut all of the pieces.

For the background I knew I wanted to do a simple watercolor with shades of blue.  I wanted to have a white edge around the paper so I used washi tape and applied it to the edges of the  Ranger -Watercolor Paper.  Then I started by adding water to the paper with the 1'' flat paint brush.  I used the #6 round paint brush to add in the color.  For the color I used three different shades of blue Distress Oxide Inks -  Peacock Feathers, Broken China, and Salty Ocean.

Once all of the color was added onto the background I used my heat tool to make sure the paper was good and dry.  Then I added a combination of water droplets and used the Zig Wink of  Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen to add some very fine droplets for some shimmer.

I used 3D Foam Squares to add the hydrangea and leaf die cuts.  Then I added more shimmer with the  Zig Wink of  Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen.  I also used Ranger Glossy Accents for the flower centers.

I stamped the sentiment from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Farmhouse Scriptural Quotes SS-026 using Memento Tuxedo Black.  I love this verse!

I added the watercolor piece to the front of a white A2 top folding card base.  To add a little more sparkle to the card I added a few 5mm Crystal Cup Sequins.

All of the supplies to create the card are listed and linked below and can also be found on The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store site.  To see more card inspiration I encourage you to check out the Stamp Simply Blog.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I am so happy to be creating again.  Enjoy your weekend and if you are somewhere with this crazy cold weather stay warm!

love, hugs, and blessings,
Heidi

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Peace On Earth Christmas Card

Hello and Happy Black Friday!  I hope you all had a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving!  We had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving with family and friends.  All of the food was so yummy!  Are you taking advantage of the Black Friday sales and braving the crowds?  My husband went out into the crowds and our oldest son and his girlfriend are hitting the sales at Mall of America--bright and early--5 am!  Not me, I stayed home lol.  Online shopping works for me--laptop, credit card, coffee and I'm good to go lol.  :)  Today, I have a Christmas card to share with you using some of the beautiful Wild Rose Studio pattern papers, embossing folder, and some inks.  Have you ever used a embossing folder with pattern paper?

Here is a look at the card I created.  The pattern paper is from the Wild Rose Studio - Birds & Berries collection.  The papers have so many pretty patterns and images.

I trimmed the paper down to fit the card front.  Then, I used the Darice Embossing Folder Pine Branches in Corner to emboss the pattern paper.  The paper and embossing folder are a perfect match!

I wanted to add some color to the embossed areas so it would really pop.  I picked out some of the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink to match the paper.  I used the mini ink blending tools to apply the ink.  I used Lucky CloverPeeled PaintVintage Photo, and Salty Ocean.  I love how the inks match so perfectly and the embossed areas totally change the look of the paper.

The sentiment is from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Merry Christmas SS-011 set.  I used VersaMark Ink to stamp onto black cardstock and then I heat embossed with Ranger Super Fine White Embossing Powder.  I added some foam tape on the backside of the sentiment.  I also went over the embossed areas and all of the images with the Zig Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen for some shimmer.  I also squeezed out a little of the Wink of Stella and added some water to it and then tapped the brush over the paper adding more shimmer over the entire card from.  You click on the image to enlarge it and see more shimmer.

Here is a close up of the little bird and the embossed area.

To finish off the card I added a few drops of Ranger Glossy Accents and sprinkled on some Stampendous Crystal Glitter Multi Ultra Fine.  The card base is a white A2 top folding card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed the card and tutorial.  If you would like to see more card inspiration I encourage you to visit the Stamp Simply Blog.  All of the supplies to create the card are listed and linked below and can be found at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Harvest Background with Oxide Inks and Gold Embossing

Hello everyone!  Today, I have a colorful Fall card to share with you using some of the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks.  I just can't get enough of the Oxide Inks!  They are so easy to work with and blend so beautifully to create backgrounds.

Here is the card I designed.  With the Oxide Inks and the  Stamp Simply Clear Stamps it is so fun to create your own pattern paper.

To start, I placed a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper on my Craft Mat with the smooth side up.  I used the Mini Ink Blending Tools to apply the ink.  I started with the lightest color and worked my way to the darkest color.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks - Fossilized AmberSpiced MarmaladePeeled PaintFired BrickVintage Photo.  After the first layer on inks and went back and blended more ink into the paper for a smooth blended look.

I used the Distress Sprayer Bottle to add water droplets to the paper and then I used a paper towel to blot up the excess water.  After achieving the look I wanted I used a heat tool to dry the paper.

After the paper was good and dry I used the  EK Success Powder Tool to go over the entire piece of paper.  The powder tool is great to use when you are heat embossing.  It keeps the embossing powder only where you stamp so you won't have excess embossing powder on your paper.

Next I stamped both of the leaves from the  Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Harvest SS-010 with VersaMark Ink.  Then I applied Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and used my heat tool to melt and heat set the powder.  I just love how the gold embossing looks on the paper.

The sentiment I used is from the Harvest SS-010 stamp set and I used VersaMark Ink and Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder to heat emboss.  I cut the background piece down in size for a card front and then I added the piece of black cardstock with the sentiment.  Then I added some May Arts - Sage Burlap String and a Petaloo Botanica Collection Sugared Minis Gold/Sienna flower.

To finish off the card I added Foam Tape to the back of the card front and then I adhered that piece to a black A2 top folding card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card share and tutorial!  All of the supplies I using can be found at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  I encourage you to check out the Stamp Simply Blog where you will find lots of inspiration from the design team.

Happy Friday and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs & Smiles,
Heidi

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Distress Oxide Ink Backgrounds and Stamping with Water Tutorial

Hello everyone and happy Friday!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I have a fun, easy, and inky tutorial to share with you using some of the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks.  These inks are fantastic for backgrounds!

Here is a look at the cards I designed.  You can click on the image to enlarge the picture and see more detail.  I wanted to play around with a few color combinations so I couldn't just make one card lol.  For two of the cards (the top and left cards) I did ink blending and for the card on the right I did some ink smooshing--now there is a technical term for you lol.  So you can create this background with ink blending or ink smooshing.  It just depends on the look you like.

For the first card I did ink blending on the smooth side of Ranger Watercolor Paper,  I used  Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks Fossilized Amber, Broken China, and Cracked Pistachio.  I used ink blenders to get a nice smooth blend.

I am using one of the stamps from the Altenew - Floral Shadow clear stamp set.  To wet the stamp I used water.  I hold the stamp about 6 inches away and I spray four times with the  Distress Sprayer Bottle.  If you have a different spray bottle you'll have to text it out and see how many times you need to spray the water to get a good coverage on the stamp.

Once I spray the stamp with water I stamp it onto the paper and I hold it in place for about 10 seconds.  This way the water has a good chance to soak into the ink and paper.  Doing this will remove some of the ink so be sure to use a baby wipe to clean the stamp in between each time of stamping.  Once you have all of the stamping done use a heat tool to heat set the ink and dry the paper. Easy peasy!

Here is a close up of the finished card.  The sentiment is also from the same stamp set.  I used VersaMark Ink to stamp the sentiment onto a piece of black cardstock.  Then I add Ranger Super Fine White Embossing Powder and used a heat tool to melt and heat set the powder.  I cut the sentiment into a strip and then fussy cut out a notch to make a banner end.  I added some Foam Tape to the back of the sentiment to pop it up a little.  I used a variety of enamel dots from My Mind's Eye Record It "Pretty Things"Simple Stories I AM, and Simple Stories Enchanted on all three cards. Then I added the card front to a white A2 top folding card.

For the second card I did the ink smooshing technique and I added ink to my craft mat and sprayed it with water.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks - Worn LipstickSpiced Marmalade, and Fossilized Amber.  Next just smoosh, drag, or tap down your piece of paper in the inks. Use a heat tool to dry the ink and your paper.  You can do this step as many times as you would like as long as you heat set your paper in between the layers of ink.

Here is a look at the paper once all of the inking is done.  I love all the layers of color!  To finish the background do the stamping with water just like the first card.

Here is a look at the finished card.

Here is a look at the background after the stamping is done.

I wanted to add some water droplets so I used the Distress Sprayer Bottle.  If you squeeze the trigger slowly and halfway you will create larger water droplets.  Let the water sit on top of the paper for a few seconds and then use a paper towel to blot up the water and used a heat tool to dry the paper.

Here is a look at the last card.  Stamping with water--it couldn't be any easier.  Now, I want you to know I am not the first person to do this technique.  You can also do this technique with Distress Inks.  Bold images seem to work best.  You can add less water for a crisper stamped image or more water for a watercolor look.  Its up to you--have fun playing with your inks!

Thanks so much for joining me today and I hope you liked the tutorial.  To see more inspiration you can visit the Stamp Simply Blog.  Also check out The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store for inks, stamps, dies, paper and all kinds of paper crafting goodies.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs & Smiles,
Heidi
