Good morning! It's time again for another fantastic Crafty Secrets monthly challenge. For September our challenge was to create something for Halloween using some of the newer products from Crafty Secrets.I created a wall hanging using the Costume Cuties stamp set and Halloween Greetings Creative Scraps from Crafty Secrets.I started with a raw piece of wood. I found these at Joann Fabric for under a $1 and my husband drilled a couple of holes so I could create a wall hanging. I misted the piece of wood with several colors of Glimmer Mist--Twilight, Artic Blue, Haunted Shadow, Raven, Black Gold from Tattered Angels. I let the Glimmer Mist sit on the wood for a couple of minutes and then I took a paper towel and blotted off the excess. I used a heat tool to heat set and speed up the drying time. Next I used acrylic paint and a sponge brush to add black paint to the stamps and then I stamped directly on to the wood. If you use paints with your stamps be sure to wash them off right away so the paint doesn't dry in all the little spaces. I have found using a tooth brush is great for cleaning and getting into all of the tiny spaces on stamp images.Let the paint dry--this should only take a few minutes.Next I added a little color to the dancing couple using Smooch by Clearsnap.I created a perfectly matching ruffle using crepe paper and glimmer mist. I used the same colors as mentioned above to color the white crepe paper. Then I used Crafty Power Tape from SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES By 3L™ to adhere the crepe paper. Here is the front of the wall hanging once I had the ruffle done. To add the sentiment I used a stamp from the Costume Cuties stamp set with gold ink and gold embossing powder. Then I used S4-301 Labels Sixteen die #3 die template to create the label diecut and added Glimmer Mist and Smooch.I used black 3D Foam Squares from SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES By 3L™ to add a little dimension to the wall hanging. The wood block "Beware" is from the Halloween Greetings Creative Scraps from Crafty Secrets. I used S4-277 Nested Bats 3 smallest bats to create the bat diecuts. To create the moon I used a stamp from the Costume Cuties stamp set and the S4-116 Standard Circles Small die #3. Then I added Candlelight Glimmer Mist and Stickles. Here's a few close-up pictures. Today, I have a fun and quick gift idea to share with you. I found these cute candy Christmas ornaments that hold a gift card at the $ store and I gave it a little handmade touch using JustRite Stampers stamps. To start I stamped one of the borders and centers from JB-08780 A Merry Little Christmas with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto white cardstock. The stamp set includes 10 Designer Centers and 10 Interchangeable Borders and fits JB-08115 Wood 1-5/8 Round Stamper.Next I colored the images and border with Copic markers. I used the S4-114 Standard Circles Large die #3 and S4-115 Petite Scalloped Circles Large die #2 to cut/emboss the circle diecuts. To add a little sparkle I used a red Spica glitter pen to go over all of the areas colored with red.I added 3D Foam Squares from SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES By 3L™ to the back of the diecut and adhered it to the front of the ornament. Here is a close-up.Here's a look at the inside of the Christmas ornament. I added some white crinkle paper and a gift card. Simple, quick, easy and cute--plus it's two gifts in one!
I hope you enjoy the JustRite Christmas Blog Hop Wednesday #1 and don' forget about the coupon code mentioned above. Thanks for joining me today and I hope you have a Wonderful Day!!
Hello! I hope everyone enjoyed the Labor Day and the long holiday weekend!! We had a very nice weekend--we went to the Renaissance Festival on Saturday and then went and had fun doing some out of town shopping on Sunday with the boys. Today was the first day back to school for our oldest son--it's his last year of high school! I am hoping the year goes by slowly but in reality I know it's going to fly by and he will be graduating before I know it. So I want to enjoy each and every moment. I don't usually post YouTube videos but a friend shared this with me and I just thought it was so neat and worth sharing with all of you.
I just love this video!! It is so true--I hope you enjoy all the Ordinary Days!!
Today, I have some fun Halloween tags to share with you using Halloween Greetings Creative Scraps from Crafty Secrets and some of the limited edition Halloween die templates from Spellbinders™. These tags were very fun and easy to make and they would look so cute added to a Halloween treat or gift bag.To create the black mat for the background I taped the S4-287 Nested Candy Corn dies #3 together and traces around the outer edges of the die templates. Then I hand cut the black candy corn shape. I used white, orange and yellow cardstock along with the S4-287 Nested Candy Corn dies #3 to cut/emboss the diecut shapes for the candy corn. Here is Halloween tag #1--The vintage image and sentiment is from the Halloween Greetings Creative Scraps from Crafty Secrets and the bats were created using S4-277 Nested Bats 3 smallest dies. I embellished the tag with buttons, brads, ribbon and stickles. Here is a close-up of Halloween tag #1.Halloween tag #2--The The vintage image and ticket is from the Halloween Greetings Creative Scraps from Crafty Secrets. The cat diecut was created using S4-282 Witches' Brew. Here is a close-up of Halloween tag #2. To make the cat's eyes green I cut/embossed two cats--one in black and one in green. I added a small piece of tape to the head of the black cat and then saved to eyes (drop out pieces) from the green cat and placed them on top of the tape. Then I added green stickles to the eyes. Halloween tag #3---The vintage image and sentiment is from the Halloween Greetings Creative Scraps from Crafty Secrets. The cauldron was created using S4-282 Witches' Brew. Here is a close-up of Halloween tag #3. To add the red flames in the cauldron I cut/embossed it twice once in black and once in red. I trimmed the red flame and taped it in place and then added stickles for a little sparkle. I also used S5-025 Labels Seventeen on each of the tags as a mat behind the vintage images.
