Crafty Secrets DT Challenge

I'm back! It seems like forever that I have been away from the blogging world. Everything is ok, it's just been really busy with a lot going on and as they say sometimes life just happens. But hopefully things will be getting back on track. *wink*Our theme for the Crafty Secrets Challenge is Birthdays. This should be a really fun one and I can't wait to see what all of the ladies on the Crafty Secrets DT have to share! I have two cards to share with you today, one for the ladies and one for the men.

Here's the first Birthday card, all pretty in pink and sparkly too!I love the image on this card! The image is one of many beautiful vintage images to choose from on the Creative Scraps Girlfriends sheet. I really love working with the Creative Scraps and there are so many wonderful images to choose from with six different themes. To cut and emboss the image I used the Wizard and Classic Rectangles Lg. S4-132 die template from Spellbinders and then I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger. For the background I used WorldWin ColorMates Cardstock along with a Flowers Impressabillities and debossed my cardstock. Before removing the Impressabilities I added VersaMagic Chalk Ink, Pixie Dust from Tsukineko and Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger. By adding the ink softened the starkness of the cardstock and also made the debossed area really pop. I also distressed the edges of the cardstock.

Then I made some flowers to frame around the vintage Happy Birthday image using Blossom S4-192 die template. I added foam tape to the back of the flowers to add some dimension and then a double layer of foam tape to the image. Before I adhered the flower frames I slipped a piece of lace trim under them to tie a little bow.At the top of the card I added some prima flowers. They were not the exact color I was wanting so I lightly misted them with Glimmer Mist, Vintage Pink and Old Lace from Tattered Angels. Then I also added a little Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger. I also added some pearls to the center of the flowers and tucked in a few little twig/ferns behind the flowers. The twig/ferns were made using a Martha Stewart punch. For a finishing touch I wanted to added a little sparkle so I used some diamond stickles from Ranger on the vintage image, flower frames, twigs and around the edge of the card.Supplies~

Here is my next card, totally a guys-guy card--no bling and glitter here! I actually made this card to give to my Dad for his birthday. Some people will call this an accordion card and others may call it a tri-fold. Either way the card has three panels and I was able to do something a little different on each panel. All of the stamped images and sentiments on the card are from one stamp set! The stamp set I used is from Crafty Secrets and it's called Favorite Fellas, it has 22 stamps in the set, all with fantastic detail! To make the base for the card I started out with two pieces of Dark Blue cardstock that were 6'' x 12'' and I scored them both at 6'' and then just adhered them together in the canter. The designer paper is two different sheets from My Minds Eye, BellaBella--Belleza Paper (red with flourishes) and Simply Dottie Paper (brown). Then I used a piece of Solar White cardstock on each panel to stamp the images several times making a designer background. I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger and also distressed the edges. On the center images I cut and embossed deckled rectangles using the Wizard and Deckled Rectangles Lg. S4-202 die templates and then stamped each image and sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink from Tsukineko. All of the coloring was done using Copic markers and airbrushing.I also added some buttons and a little ribbon to finish off the card.I also added a panel to the backside of the card for a place to be able to sign it.Supplies~
