GRADUATION & BEYOND BLOG HOP - Stamp Simply Clear Stamps

Welcome to our Graduation & Beyond BLOG HOP today. We have many projects to share showcasing two of the sets in our NEW April Release - Graduation Sentiments and Scripture for Graduation & Beyond. With these 2 sets your options for cards for so many types of celebratory and congratulatory events are limitless.  Combine them with images, sentiments or Scripture from our other sets and the sky is the limit!

Here is the card I designed using the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Graduation Sentiments SS-029 stamp set.  Graduation time is just around the corner and both of the new stamp sets are filled with fantastic sentiments and Scriptures.  For the pattern paper I used a couple of sheets from the Authentique - Dapper collection.  The school colors for our high school are cherry and blue so this paper was perfect.  I thought black and ivory would make a nice accent colors and tie everything together.  I embossed the top portion of a piece of ivory cardstock using the Darice Graduation Hat Background Embossing Folder.  Then I stamped part of the sentiment on the bottom of the cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  For the congrats banner I used a piece of black cardstock and treated it with the EK Success Powder Tool and then I used VersaMark Ink for the stamping.  I applied Stampendous Super Fine Embossing Powder - Detail White and used my heat tool to melt and set the embossing powder.  I added 3D Foam Squares to the back of the banner and adhered it to the stamped and dry embossed ivory cardstock and then trimmed the edges.

I used the Cherry Lynn Designs - Graduation Set of dies to create the hat and diploma die cuts with black cardstock.  I added a black enamel dot from the My Mind's Eye - Record It! Charmed Enamel Dots to the center of the hat.  I also added some enamel dots for embellishments from the My Mind's Eye - Necessities Teal Enamel Dots.

I added some 3D Foam Squares to the piece of ivory cardstock, the hat, and the diploma to add some dimension to the card.

The card base is a black A2 top folding card.  Both of these new stamp sets will be great to create quick and easy graduation cards with wonderful sentiments and Scriptures.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Make a Wish Shaker Card

Hello everyone!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I have a fun and sparkly shaker card to share with you.

This is a pretty quick and easy shaker card to create and this could be used with many different dies and paper collections.  All of the pattern paper is from the Simple Stories Enchanted 6 x 6 Paper Pad.  I love the pastel colors in the paper pad.  To start I picked out a couple sheets of the paper.  I wanted to have the stripes for the front of my card and the polka-dot paper for the back of the shaker.  I used the Spellbinders Celebrations Die - Pierced Stars to cut the star shape into the stripe paper.  Next, I added a piece of Hot Off The Press Heat Resistant Acetate to the back side of the paper.  Then I added Crafty Foam Tape White to the backside of the acetate.  I doubled up the foam tape so the sequins would have more room to shake around.  I used the foam tape to build a wall/window around the star.  When you do this make sure the pieces of foam tape are right next to each other so your shaker bits won't fall out.  I added Tiny Silver Star Sequins and some of the sequins from the My Mind's Eye On Trend "Happy" Sequins.  To finish off the shaker I added the polka-dot paper to the back.  Make sure you have all areas of the paper pressed down on to the foam tape before you shake your shaker card.

Here is a close up of the shaker.  I fussy cut some of the words and the make a wish sentiment from the same paper pad and added them to the card with Crafty Foam Tape White.

Along the sides of the card front I added some Ranger Glossy Accents and then sprinkled on some  Tim Holtz Distress Glitter - Clear Rock Candy and Stampendous Crystal Glitter Multi Ultra Fine.  I added some Zig Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen to all of the cut out words and the sentiment.  I also added a few more of the Tiny Silver Star Sequins to the card front.

To finish off the card I added the shaker to a white A2 top folding card base.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Harvest Shaker Card

Hello and Happy Autumn to everyone!  The temps are getting cooler here in Minnesota and the leaves on the trees are filled with beautiful colors.  I can't believe Halloween is in just a few days and the weatherman is calling for temps to get up in to the 60s!  That is pretty rare for us in Minnesota.  I remember taking the boys out trick-or-treating when they were little and a few times it was snowing.  So I thought this week would be perfect for an Autumn card.

Here is the card I designed.  I have used the Penny Black - Snow Dust 4102K wood mounted stamp to make winter and Christmas cards in the past but when I was looking at it I thought why couldn't it be used for a Fall/Autumn card.  Instead of snow dust blowing we can pretend it's leaves blowing in the wind.  I love it when you can get multiple uses out of stamps.  You could even used this stamp in the Spring and change the colors for an apple or cherry tree and the dust part can be blossoms blowing in the wind.  I have a tutorial with a few pictures on how I colored and stamped the background for the card.  Oh, and it's a shaker card with something a little different than sequins.

For the background I stamped the image of the trees on to ivory cardstock using Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Antique Linen.  I used the antique linen ink because I wanted a very light impression of the image just so I could have an idea of where to add all of the colors of ink on the trees.

I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs, Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron, Ripe Persimmon to add the color to the image.  I just used a small portion of a cotton ball working in a circular motion to apply the ink.  You could also use a sponge or a distress ink applicator to apply the ink--use whatever you are the most comfortable working with.  If you are worried about using too big of a sponge or applicator you could also use Q-tips to apply the ink.  Once all of the ink was applied then I used a paint brush and flicked water on to the paper.  I'm not using watercolor paper but the paper will be ok since it will just be a few flicks of water.  Then use a paper towel to blot up the water.  You can repeat this until you achieve the desired look but make sure you use a heat tool to dry the paper in between for the best results.  I added the water two times on this background.

Once I made sure that paper was good and dry then I used Versamark ink to stamp the image of the trees.  I inked up the dust part of the image and stamped that a few times at the bottom of the trees and on the left side at the top.  To stamp just the dust part you can either ink up just that area on the stamp or you can lay a piece of paper down as a mask so the images of the trees don't stamp.  I added Ranger - Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and used my heat tool to melt and heat set the embossing powder.  One thing I wanted to add--I'm sure someone might be thinking why not just heat emboss and then add the inks for color.  The reason I chose to do the technique the way I did is because sometimes if you heat emboss with a metallic color and then add ink on top of it, it can dull the metallic color.  So that is why I did the inking on the background and then heat embossed.

Here you can see the shaker bits in the card.  You can also click on all of the images to enlarge them and see more of the details.  Instead of using sequins I thought it would be fun to use some of the Stampendous - Frantage Gold Lux Mix Micas & Glitter.  The colors of the mica and glitter are perfect for a Fall/Autumn card.  To create the frame for the card I used brown cardstock and then die cut the frame using Spellbinders - Branching Out and Card Creator 5 x 7 Matting Basics B dies.  I inked the edges of the frame with Versamark and then heat embossed using Ranger - Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.

Here is a close up of the trees.  Sorry for the little bit of glare in the photo.  Sometimes shaker cards can be a little hard to get a photo of with out a glare from the acetate.  I used a piece of the Hot Off The Press Heat Resistant Acetate for the window in the card.  I used Scor-Tape to adhere the acetate to the frame and then I added Therm-O-Web Foam on the backside of the frame to add dimension and it will also allow the pieces of mica and glitter to move when someone shakes the card.  I added some of the Stampendous - Frantage Gold Lux Mix Micas & Glitter inside the frame and then carefully lined up and added the background piece.

I stamped the word Autumn from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Harvest SS-010 set on to a smaller piece of the rust colored cardstock with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger - Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  Then I fussy cut the little notch to make it like a banner.  Next I added some May Arts Gold Metallic String Ribbon.  I made a bow and frayed the ends.  To finish off the card I added a few flowers from the Petaloo - Botanica Collection Sugared Minis Mocha.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Altenew Floral Shadows Smile Card with the Rock-N-Roll and Faux Watercolor Techniques

Hello everyone!  This week on the Stamp Simply Blog all of the design team members have been sharing projects to feature some of the NEW Altenew products that have recently been added to The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  For my card I used two of the new stamp sets, inks, and one of the dies from Altenew.  I also did a couple of fun and easy techniques on the card.  I don't have a tutorial this week but I will explain the whole process and how you can achieve the same look for your cards.

Here is a look at the card I designed.  I started out with a piece of Ranger - Watercolor Paper and I stamped the floral and leaf images from the Altenew - Floral Shadows Clear Stamp set.  For the flowers I used Red Cosmos - Cool Berry and Ruby Red.  If you look at the stamp set there is a smaller flower with a little stem and that is the image I used for the center of the flower.  I just made sure to only ink up the flower and not the stem and it made a perfect flower center.  I randomly stamped the images to fill in most of the space on the watercolor paper.  Then I used a heat to to dry the inks on the paper because I wanted to do a little bit of embossing.

Here is a close up so you can see some of the embossing.  For the embossing I did the Rock-N-Roll technique with the stamps and ink.

If you are new to stamping or if you have never done the Rock-N-Roll technique it is very easy to do and here is a picture so you can see what the stamp would look like with the ink on it.  Basically to do the technique you will hold the ink pad at an angle and you will Rock-N-Roll the ink pad around the outer edges of the stamp.  So as you can see in the picture the stamp will just have a little bit of ink applied to the edges.  You can also do this with two colors of ink like a light and darker color.  With two inks you would apply the lightest color fist and then Rock-N-Rock the darker ink around the edges and then stamp.

Here is another close up.  I used the Delicata - Golden Glitz Pigment Ink for the Rock-N-Roll technique of the stamps.  Since the stamps are clear you can line them up pretty easily but if the images are offset a little that is ok too--it will still look good--I promise!  I chose to used the Delicata - Golden Glitz Pigment Ink because even though it is a pigment ink it's not as opaque as some other pigment inks.  I knew it would have a pretty gold shimmer and then by adding  Ranger - Super Fine Embossing Powder - Clear on top of the images and heat setting the embossing powder will seal in the ink colors under the embossing.  So I stamped the flowers and leaves with the Altenew dye inks and then I stamped the images a second time with the Delicata - Golden Glitz Pigment Ink and heat embossed them.  For the leaves I used Green Fields - Frayed Leaf ink. I also stamped one of the small leaf clusters using just the Delicata - Golden Glitz Pigment Ink and heat embossed with Ranger - Super Fine Embossing Powder - Clear.  Once all of the stamping and embossing was done then I used a spray bottle with water to wet the paper.  Since the colored inks are dye based they will react with the water and the colors will start to move and blend around.  I just let the colors and water blend for maybe about 30 seconds or so and then I used a heat tool to dry the paper.  Once the paper was dry then I added paint splatters using the Ruby Red ink and a paint brush with some water and then set the paper aside to dry.  By adding the water and the paint splatters it gives the paper the look of a watercolor piece but its easy peasy to achieve. :)

Next I stamped the smile sentiment from the Halftone Smile Clear Stamp Set.  I used the Red Cosmos - Cool Berry and Ruby Red inks and stamped on to a piece of white cardstock.  Then I used the Altenew - Halftone Smile Die to die cut the word.  I stamped the other part of the sentiment on to black cardstock using VersaMark Ink and embossing with Stampendous Super Fine Embossing Powder - Detail White.

To assemble the card I added some May Arts Rose 1/4'' Silk Ribbon with a bow around the faux watercolor panel.  I added the black embossed part of the sentiment and then added some Therm-O-Web Foam Squares to the smile die cut to add a little dimension to the card.  To finish off the card I added a Petaloo Botanica Collection Pistachio Minis Flower to the center of the bow and I also added a few 5mm Black Sequins.  I added more foam squares to the back of the card front panel and then added that to an A2 top folding black card base.  I hope my instructions were clean enough but if you have any questions please feel free to leave them in the comment section or you can always email me too.  floralfantasy@charter(dot)net

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Altenew Painted Rose Watercolor Thank You Card with Distress Inks

Hello everyone!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  I have a beautiful watercolor card to share with you using a heat emboss resist technique with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

Here is a look at the card I designed.  I used some of the stamps from the Altenew Clear Stamps - Painted Rose stamp set.  I inked the stamps with VersaMark Ink and stamped the images on to a piece of Ranger - Watercolor Paper.  I used the smooth side of the paper.  Next I added Stampendous Super Fine Embossing Powder - Detail White to the stamped images and then I used a heat tool to heat set and melt the embossing powders.

Here is a close up of the roses.  I used several of the Tim Holtz Distress Inks to do the watercolor.  I started with the roses and the lightest color--Squeezed Lemonade.  Then while the paint was still wet I added a little of the Ripe Persimmon and Picked Raspberry.  I used a heat tool to speed up the drying process and then I added a second layer of the colors but I used a little less water so the colors would be more intense.  I dried the paper with a heat tool and then moved on to the leaves.  I used Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron for the leaves.  Once the paper was dry I used a baby wipe to remove the color from the embossed areas and really make the white embossing pop.  Here is a tip--if your baby wipe is a little too damp wrap part of it around your finger and then wrap a piece of paper towel on top and it will be just enough to keep the baby wipe from accidentally picking up to much color from your paper.  To finish off the watercolor I filled in the white space using Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean.  I added a few layers of the blue colors and heat set in between the layers.  Then when the paper was all dry I added some water droplets (to the blue area) using the paint brush and clean water.  I let the water droplets sit for a few seconds and then I blotted the paper with a paper towel to remove the water.  I love the look left from the water droplets!

For the sentiment I used one of the stamps from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - SS-Sent002 Many Thanks stamp set.  I used VersaMark Ink and Stampendous Super Fine Embossing Powder - Detail White to stamp and emboss the sentiment on to a piece of Vellum.  I cut the strip down to size and then I fussy cut one end to look like a banner.  To easily make the banner cut make a small cut at the end of the paper in the middle and then cut from each corner to the inside of the middle cut.  I love the look of velum but it is so hard to find an adhesive that is truly invisible so here is another little tip--on the backside of the vellum trace over the sentiment with your adhesive.  The adhesive will be enough to hold the vellum in place and you won't be able to see it.  You can use glue pens or a liquid adhesive.  If you don't have a small enough glue pen or an adhesive with a precision tip you can make small little dots or use a toothpick to add the adhesive.  For a little bit of sparkle I added some Prima - Say It In Crystals Royal Menagerie Sequins.

I used Therm-O-Web Foam Squares to adhere the watercolor panel to a piece of white cardstock.  Then I used  Scor-Tape to adhere the card front to a pink A2 top folding card base.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Blessed Are The Pure In Heart Watercolor Card With A Tutorial

Hello blogging friends!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.   I will be giving my card to someone for Easter, but with all of the beautiful sentiments and verses in the New Stamp Simply Clear Stamps you would be able to create cards for many different occasions.  I also have a tutorial to share with you on how I created the watercolor background.

Here is the card I designed.  I used one of the sentiments from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps SS-Sent008 Blessings/Beatitudes 2.  I just absolutely love all of the new stamp sets that Sharon has to offer!  If you have any of the stamp sets from her first release they will also work nicely to mix and match with the new stamps.

These are the products I used to create the watercolor background.  I used the DecoArt Metallic Lustre - Gold Rush to add a pretty metallic shimmer to the paper.  I also used four of the Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Squeezed Lemonade, Worn Lipstick.  The paint brush I used is a #16 Round.  I like to use this larger brush when I do backgrounds but you could use whatever you have in your crafty stash.

I used my craft mat and smooshed the Distress Inks on to the mat.  I also scooped out a little bit of the DecoArt Metallic Lustre - Gold Rush.  So this is what my paint palette looks like after adding water to active the colors.

I am using a piece of Ranger Watercolor Paper.  You will notice on most watercolor paper one side has a little more texture or tooth to it and the other side will be smoother.  Whenever I am stamping on watercolor paper I stamp on the smoother side.  Doing this will give you a crisper stamped image or sentiment.  It's kind of hard to see in this picture but I stamped one of the sentiments from the SS-Sent008 Blessings/Beatitudes 2  Stamp Simply Clear Stamps in the lower right corner.  I used VersaMark Ink and then heat embossed using Stampendous Super Fine Embossing Powder - Detail White. 

When I am creating a watercolor background the first thing I do is to apply just plain water to the entire piece of paper.  If you start out with wet paper the colors will start to flow as soon as they touch the paper.  I started by applying some of the DecoArt Metallic Lustre - Gold Rush.  Then I dropped in the other colors.  I usually start with the lightest colors and work my way to the darker or more intense colors.

I use a heat tool to dry the paper in between the layers of color.  This is how the paper looked after the first layer of color.  I add water and color as I go and then when I get the look I am going for I heat set the paper.  This was very pretty--I loved how the colors blended and I could have stopped at this point but I wanted the colors to be a little more intense.

This is how the paper looked after I added more color.  For this second layer I used more paint/ink and less water and then I used a heat tool to dry the paper.  After the paper has cooled off you can take a baby wipe or damp cloth and wipe off any excess paint/ink on the embossed area.  Now the white embossing really pops and I love the shimmer from the metallic gold that is blended throughout the background.

Here you can see even more of the gold shimmer!  To create the cross I used two of the crosses from  Spellbinders Crosses Two set.  For the larger cross I used a pearl white paper and for the smaller cross I used white cardstock.  I used Therm-O-Web Foam Squares on the watercolor background and on the smaller cross to add some extra dimension to the card.  I also used Ranger - Glossy Accents and Scor-Tape to assemble the card.  I added the watercolor background to a white card base.  The card size is an A2 top folding card.  To finish the card I also added some Melissa Frances White Pearls to the cross and corners of the card.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Butterfly and Flowers Happy Birthday Card

Hello blogging friends!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.   I know it has been forever since I have had a SSRS post--about a month.  But with some recent health issues it has set me back a bit.  One of my medicines was increased and I am starting to feel a little better--it's just not happening as fast as I would like lol.  But the good news is I am having longer periods of time throughout the day that are somewhat tolerable so I am able to do some creating.

We still have snow on the ground here in Minnesota but it is only March so who knows we could still have a snow storm or two but I am ready for Spring!  Nothing says Spring more than flowers and a butterfly.  :)  To create the butterfly I used the new stamp set from JustRite Papercraft CR-05009 Multi-Step Butterflies and Flowers and VersaMark Pretty Petunia, Spring Pansy inks.  Then I lightly inked the edges of the butterfly with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Broken China.  To die cut the butterfly I used the DIE-05010 Multi-Step Butterfly Dies.

For the die cuts in the background I used  DIE-05019 Elegant Garden Label Dies along with Bazzill Gold Mirror Cardstock, white, and lavender cardstock.  I used Therm-O-Web Foam Squares in between the layers to add some dimension.  To create the vines I used green cardstock and DIE-05017 Stitched Oval and Vine Dies.  Then I added a couple of flowers from the Petaloo Botanica Collection Pink Minis and  Prima Serenade - Turquoise Flower.  I adhered all of the pieces to a white card front and then a lavender card base.  I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and one of the sentiments from the CR-05014 Sweet Flowers and Vines clear stamp set to stamp Happy Birthday in the upper left corner.  To finish off the card I added Ranger - Glossy Accents and Stampendous Crystal Glitter Multi Ultra Fine to the butterfly, vines and flowers.  I love all of the sparkle!
