U-Paint Metal Crafts - Acanthus Leaf Scroll Cuff Bracelet with Tutorial

Hello everyone!  Today, I am excited to share my first U-Paint Metal Crafts® project with you.   If you are not familiar with UPMC I encourage you to visit their website.  They have over 300 U-Paint Metal Craft Kits to choose from.  The metal pieces are designed for all Designers, Artists, Makers, DIY Crafters/Hobbyists. The detail on the designs is amazing! The metal pieces can be used for mixed media, home decor, altered art, and even jewelry.  If you have been following my blog for any length of time you know I love to design jewelry.  So it shouldn't be any surprise that my first project is a jewelry piece--and I have to say I love how it turned out!  I also have a step-by-step tutorial to share with you.

Here is a look at the cuff bracelet I designed using a piece of the Acanthus Leaf Scroll Brass Deco - Trim U-Paint Metal Crafts®.  This leaf scroll design is so beautiful!
All supplies are listed and linked below.  :)

1)  To start, cut a piece of the Acanthus Leaf Scroll Brass Deco - Trim to the desired length.  The length will depend on the size of bracelet you would like to make.

2)  Using a metal file smooth the edges on each end of the metal trim piece.

3)  Then wash the metal piece with warm soap and water to remove any dust and oil.

4)  Using a Vintaj™ Filigree Shaping Pliers bend and shape the piece of metal trim to form the shape of the cuff bracelet.

5)  Use Krylon© White Matte Spray Paint to paint all sides of the bracelet.  Be sure to paint the edges too.  The backside of the bracelet will feel a little rough at first but with a couple coats of paint it smooths out.

6)  Using a sponge apply Tonic Studios© NUVO® Embellishment Mousse, 822N Pacific Teal and 807N Aquamarine.  If you haven't used the embellishment mousse before it is very easy to work with. It is smooth and creamy--kind of like whipped butter.  For the best coverage pounce the sponge onto the bracelet instead of trying to wipe it on.

7)  Set aside to dry or use a heat tool to speed up the drying time.  If you use a heat tool please be careful as the metal will become very hot.  So allow the piece some time to cool.

8)  Next, use a piece of Steel Wool Grade #0000 to sand and buff back the paint until some of the metal is revealed.  When working with steel wool you might want to wear a mask.  When sanding the steel wool creates a lot of tiny fibers.

9)  To add the glitter apply a small amount of Beacon Adhesives©, Gem-Tac™ using a Mini Applicator Disposable Adhesive Brush.  If you don't have one of these applicators you can use a small paint brush.  Just be sure to wash the brush right away so the adhesive doesn't dry.  Then sprinkle on some Tonic Studios© NUVO® Pure Sheen Glitter, 720N Champagne.  Whenever I used glitter I use a coffee filter to catch the excess and then it can easily be funneled back into the container.

10)  Set aside to dry.  If you end up with too much glitter in a certain area wait for the adhesive to dry and then gently rub off the excess glitter with your fingers.

11)  Use a toothpick to apply the Beacon Adhesives©, Dazzle Tac Jewelry Glue™ and then add the ButterBeeScraps, SS16 Aquamarine Flat Back Crystals.  Set aside to dry.

12)  For the final step, mix a small amount of ICE Resin®.  Mix ICE Resin® according to the instructions. Then use a brush to apply a thin layer of resin. Be sure not to add resin on top of the crystals, but you can apply it around the edges to secure the crystals even more.  Set aside on a ICE Resin® Studio Sheet to harden and cure.  Approximately 6-8 hours.

If you like to create jewelry this is a really great project and it would make a wonderful gift--for yourself or a friend.  The leafy scroll design is so beautiful!

This aqua blue color is very on trend right now.  I love all of the sparkle from the glitter and crystals.

I hope you enjoyed the step-by-step tutorial.  Don't forget to check out all of the fabulous metal pieces and kits in the U-Paint Metal Crafts® online store.  If you are an Amazon shopper some of the metal kits are also available there.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hugs & Smiles,
Heidi

ICE Resin® - Ranger - Liquid Pearls Paint Skins

Hello everyone!  Today, I have a post up on the ICE Resin® blog.

I love how all three of the projects turned out so I am excited for this post to be live.  In the tutorial I share with you how to use Ranger Liquid Pearls, Tints, ICED Enamels®, and Glitter to create Liquid Pearl Paint Skins.  Once the paint skins are dry they can be removed from the studio sheets.  You can use the bezel template to trace and cut a piece of the paint skin to fit perfectly into the bezels.  Top with ICE Resin® and create some beautiful jewelry.

I have a step-by-step tutorial with lots of pictures on the ICE Resin® blog.  If you would like to see the tutorial you can click HERE to visit the ICE Resin® blog.  I encourage you to give this technique a try--it is even one that beginners can do.

If you have any questions or comments please leave them below.  Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope you have a wonderful day and get a chance to create something beautiful!

Exciting News - U-Paint Metal Crafts Creative Team Member

Hello blogging friends!  I have some exciting news to share with everyone.  I am going to be working with and designing for a new company.  The company is U-Paint Metal Crafts and they have over 300 U-Paint Metal Craft Kits to choose from.  The metal pieces are designed for all Designers, Artists, Makers, DIY Crafters/Hobbyists. The detail on the designs is so beautiful!  I have some pictures to share of the metal pieces including some of the solid brass deco trim strips and bookmarks.  The U-Paint Metal Crafts line was developed and launched last year to present to the Craft Industry at a retail level.  U-Paint Metal Crafts is under a larger company The Frank Morrow Company that has been in business since 1929!

Now for the really great news---Everything is made in the U.S.A.!
The products can be purchased on the U-Paint Metal Crafts website and also on Amazon.

Ok, now that we have all of the "business" out of the way lets take a look at the beautiful designs from U-Paint Metal Crafts.

Here is a look at one of the large kits.
This is the Butterflies kit and below are the dimensions for each piece.
Dragonfly (4 3/8″ H x 5 7/8″ W)
Butterfly (3 3/4″ H x 5 1/4″ W)
Swallowtail Moth (5 3/4″ H x 4 1/2″ W)
Art Deco Butterfly – Solid (2.875″ H x 4.75″ W)

Each kit comes in a large zipper bag which is great for storage.

Here is a look at the back side of the packaging.

The metal pieces come in large and small kits.  You can also purchase them individually.  This image includes L--to--R:  Garden Sprite, Garden Trellis, Flower Bouquet, Roses Blooming, Hummingbird.

Here is a close up of the Flower Bouquet so you can see all of the amazing detail.

This image includes metal pieces from the Butterflies kit and the Herbs Kit.  I absolutely love all of the detail in the butterflies!

I thought the Bird house and  Tulips would be perfect for Spring.

Check out these beautiful bookmarks!  The bookmarks have vintage designs from the 1920's - 1950's. The one on the top is the Rose & Leaf Scroll and the bottom one is Swirling Leaves.  The detail on the bookmarks is amazing!

Be still my heart---Oh these decorative trims are beyond gorgeous!!  I can't wait to create with these!  So many possibilities my mind is spinning lol.
From the top down this image includes the following.

I think working with the U-Paint Metal Crafts is going to be so much fun and this is their very first Creative Team!  You can apply paint, glitter, stains, gilding, embellishment mousse, tints and all different kind of products to make the designs uniquely yours.  You can custom design the pieces to match your home decor.  The pieces can also be used as molds for clay and you can use some of the bookmarks to emboss beautiful designs on your paper crafts.  The brass can be cut, sanded, and shaped for jewelry so I am very excited to try designing some jewelry with those pieces.

Be watching for an upcoming announcement to share links for the
U-Paint Metal Crafts Blog, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a beautiful day!

Hugs & Smiles,
Heidi

ButterBeeScraps - Queen Tassel Necklace

Hello everyone!  Today, I am guest designing for ButterBeeScraps and I have a jewelry project to share with you.

I designed this necklace using one of the beautiful Bronze Round Metal Filigree Embellishments 744-B.  If you are new to jewelry making this is a very easy necklace to create.

I used one of the Small Round Glass Cabochons CAB018 and glossy accents to adhere a pretty digital image from ArtCult that I printed out.  Then, I glued the cabochon inside of the Small Bronze Round Cabochon Setting F018D-B.  Next, I used E6000 to adhere the cabochon setting to the Bronze Round Metal Filigree Embellishments 744-B.

The cabochon setting fits perfectly in the center of the round metal filigree.

I used glossy accents to adhere the SS20 Light Colorado Topaz Flat Back Glass Rhinestones and SS12 Light Colorado Topaz Flat Back Glass Rhinestones around the outside of the filigree.

To create the tassel I used different lengths of Textured Bronze Cable Chain (#CH521-B) and with jump rings I added the pieces of chain to the bottom of the filigree.  Then, I wire wrapped some tiny gold glass bicone beads and attached one on each of the bottom pieces of chain.

To finish off the necklace I added more bronze chain and jump rings with a lobster clasp.

If you like to create jewelry or work with metals I encourage you to check out ButterBeeScraps.  Monique, owner of ButterBeeScraps has such a wonderful selection.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hugs & Smiles,
Heidi

Dazzling Druzy - ICE Resin®

Hello everyone!  Today, I am excited to share one of my ICE Resin® projects with you.  I love the look of Druzy stones and I have made several faux Druzy stones using a variety of German glass glitter, other types of glitter, tints, sand, and crushed pebbles.  I was just playing around and mixed up some of the products when I found a new mixture for creating a faux Druzy and I absolutely love it!  It has so much texture and sparkle to it so I thought Dazzling Druzy would be a fitting name.

If you would like to learn more please visit the ICE Resin® blog where I share a step-by-step tutorial on how to create this beautiful necklace.  I would really appreciate it if you leave me a little love while you are there and let me know what you think about the Dazzling Druzy.   If you are new to ICE  Resin® I really encourage you to give this technique a try.  It is very easy and beginner friendly.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

ICE Resin® Tints Color Heart and Flower Necklace

Hello ICE Resin® Fans!
Today, I have a post up over on the ICE Resin® Blog.  To see more photos with a step-by-step tutorial and find out all of the details you can click HERE.

I have a tutorial to share with you using ICE Resin®, and some of the NEW ICE Resin® Tints.  The new tints are available in six different colors.  For my project I will be using four of the new tints.  I love to create jewelry and especially assemblage style jewelry.  I love to mix metals and now with the tints I can very easily add color to the metals.  I also used the ICED Enamels in Relique Ivory along with the ICED Enamels Medium on all of the metal pieces before adding the ICE Resin® with the tints.  I thought having the Relique Ivory background on all the metal pieces would give the tinted ICE Resin® a more vibrant look.  I also used one of the new Antique Bronze Heart Milan Bezels, Relique Glitz Gold Glitter, German Glass Glitter and Ranger Glossy Accents to add touches of glitz and glamour to the necklace.  I used a bronze base for the necklace and then also some leaves, a rose cabochon, some smaller metal pieces with flowers and leaves.  To finish of the necklace I added some AB flat back crystals.  I absolutely love how the necklace turned out!  It has a vintage glam look to it.

Supplies
Relique Glitz Gold Glitter

Other Supplies and Components for Necklace
ButterBeeScraps - Necklace Base, AB Flat Back Crystals
B'Sue Boutiques - Leaves, Small Flowers with Leaves

Creating Crystal Like Flowers with ICE Resin®

Hello everyone!  Today, I have a technique to share with you using ICE Resin®, ICED Enamels, Glitter, Ranger Perfect Pearls, and various types of paper from vintage sheet music to paper flowers.  I have to say I just love the look of ICE Resin® on paper!  It doesn’t matter if it is vintage paper or newer paper, sealed or not sealed it always has such a beautiful and unique look.

I mixed up some of the ICE Resin® and then added small amounts of the resin to different cups.  Then I used few different colors of Ranger Perfect Pearls and added it to the resin.  I used the stir stick to mix the ICE Resin® and Perfect Pearls.  Doing this created a beautiful pearl colors.  I used a paint brush to add the pearly resin to the paper flowers and leaves.  When the ICE Resin® cures the flowers have a beautiful crystal look to them and they become hard from the resin.  I also added some of the ICED Enamels™ Relique Glitz Gold Glitter to the center of the larger flowers and the edges of this leaves for a bit of added sparkle.  Once the ICE Resin® has cured the flowers can be added to all kinds of home décor and DIY projects.

Here is a close up.  I have a full step-by-step tutorial with pictures over on the ICE Resin Blog.  If you would like to find out all of the details you can click HERE.

I hope you enjoy the tutorial and remember ICE Resin® isn't just for jewelry you can use it with paper crafting too!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!
