The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Coneflower Happy Birthday Watercolor and Stencil Card

Hello everyone!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I have a small tutorial to share with you on how I created my card.

Here is a look at the card I designed.  It looks pretty simple but it does have a couple of techniques going on.  I wanted the flower to take center stage but I also wanted a soft background instead of just a white background.

The flower image is from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Thank You For Caring Coneflower SS-019 stamp set.  I stamped and heat embossed the image on to a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper using  Ranger Super Fine Embossing Powder - Clear.  Then I stamped the image onto a couple of post-it notes and fussy cut it out to create a mask.  Usually I like to use the Inkadinkado Stamping Mask Paper but I'm currently out of the masking paper.  The masking paper is so quick and easy to use.  I placed the mask on top of the stamped image.  Then I taped the stencil in place over the paper.  The stencil I used is the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil Woodgrain.  As you can see the paper is larger then the stencil so I did have to re-position the stencil a couple of times and continue to add the ink.  For the stenciled background I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Hickory Smoke and Pumice Stone along with the Mini Ink Blending Tools to add the ink.

After the stenciling was done I removed the mask.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Squeezed Lemonade, Fossilized Amber, Carved Pumpkin, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Walnut Stain to watercolor the flower image.

Once all of the watercolor was done then I added Zig Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen to the flower image.  Here is a close up so you can see some of the sparkle. 

Here is a close up of the finished card.  I also decided to add a layer of Ranger Glossy Accents to the flower.

To finish off the card I stamped the sentiment from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - All Occasion Sentiments SET 1 SS-030 with VersaMark Ink onto black cardstock and then heat embossed with Ranger Super Fine Embossing Powder - White.  I trimmed the black cardstock down and added some May Arts Gold Metallic String.  I also added some May Arts Ribbon Sampler - Delicate Vintage Lace and a few Simple Stories So Fancy Enamel Dots.  The card base is a black A2 top folding card.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Watercolor Coneflower Card

Hello everyone and happy Friday!  Did you follow along last week with the New Releases from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store?  The release included two beautiful stamp sets for Fall and  coordinating die set.  In addition to those there are New Die Releases that coordinate with all of the stamp releases that have images to color.

For my card I used the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Thank You for Caring Coneflower SS-019.  I stamped the flower image on to Ranger - Watercolor paper using VersaMark Ink.  Then, I sprinkled on Ranger Super Fine White Embossing Powder and used a heat tool to melt and heat set the powder.  

All of the watercolor was done using the Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  For the center of the flower I used Fossilized Amber and for the petals  Hickory Smoke.  Whenever you want to have white flowers you will need to do the shading in gray colors.  I know it might sound strange but the gray actually makes the flower appear white and really makes it pop.  For the stem and leaves I used Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Peeled Paint.  The background was done using Faded Jeans and Stormy Sky.  Then I used the heat tool to speed up the drying time on the paper.  To finish the background I used Black Soot and added paint splatters.  Then I dried the paper one more time and added water droplets.  I trimmed the watercolor paper down and added a black mat.  I used Foam Tape behind the watercolor piece to add some dimension.  The background paper is from the Wild Rose Studio - Dancing Daisies.  I added May Arts 5/8" Solid Plaid Olive Ribbon and My Mind's Eye Record It Charmed Enamel Dots.  

To finish off the card I added the card front to a black A2 top folding card.  This is a really quick and easy watercolor card with no special techniques so it would be a great card to make multiples of.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Sunflower Season Watercolor Card

Hello everyone!  Have you been following along with the Stamp Simply Blog and the designers for the New 2017 Summer Release week?  If you missed any of the days I encourage you to check out the Stamp Simply Blog to see some beautiful inspiration from the design team.

Today, I will be sharing two cards with you using the new stamp sets and coordinating dies.  My first card will be in this blog post and then I have a second blog post that will be going up this evening so be sure to check back.  The floral images in both sets are so beautiful and fun to color.  Both stamp sets also have several wonderful verses and sentiments.

Darsie, created a YouTube video sharing the New 2017 Summer Releases. 

For my card I stamped the sunflower image from the  Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Sunflower Season SS-018 on to a piece of Ranger - Watercolor paper using VersaMark Ink.  Then I sprinkled on some of the Ranger - Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and used a heat tool to melt and heat set the powder leaving a beautiful raised embossed sunflower.  To watercolor the image I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks and a Waterbrush.  For the flowers I used Squeezed Lemonade, Fossilized Amber, and Wild Honey.

To color the leaves and stems I used Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Peeled Paint.

For the background I did some ink blending using the Mini Ink Blending Tools and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks - Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, and Broken China.  I thought this would be a pretty color combination for the background.

I used the Distress Sprayer to add some water droplets to the background.  I let it sit for a few seconds and then used a paper towel to blot up the water and used a heat tool to dry the paper.  I also used Walnut Stain Distress Inks to add some brown splatters on the card which you will see in the picture below.

I used the coordinating die Stamp Simply Steel Dies - Sunflower SS-DIE003Sunflower SS-DIE003 to die cut the sunflower.  It's so nice to have the coordinating dies and not have to fussy cut the image lol.  I added Foam Tape to the back of the sunflower for some dimension.

I stamped the word sunflower using Walnut Stain ink and then I stamped over it a second time using VersaMark Ink.  Doing this allows me to add Clear Embossing Powder and heat emboss the word.  Then I used the coordinating die to cut the word out.  I added some Foam Tape to the back of the word die cut and then adhered that to the card front at the bottom of the flower stem.

To finish off the card I added a bow using some of the May Arts - Yellow Burlap String and then I added a few My Mind's Eye - Record It! Charmed Enamel Dots.  The card front was mounted to a white A2 top folding card base.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - I Adore You Distress Watercolor Card

Hello blogging friends!  I hope you all had a very Happy 4th of July celebration and long holiday weekend.  For many years our town has had the parade on the 3rd of July and it comes right by our house.  We always have a big cookout and invite family and friends.  This year we had close to 40 people over.  It was a lot of fun to see everyone, celebrate, and have lots of yummy food.  

Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  I have a Distress Watercolor card and tutorial to share with you.

Here is the card I designed.  I used the Altenew - Adore You Clear Stamp Set and the masking technique for my card.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink for all of the coloring.  I did a combination of ink blending and watercolor.

To do the masking technique I stamped out each of the images I was going to use on to a piece of full sticky post-it note paper.  You can also use masking paper.  I have some of the masking paper in my stash and it works great!  The post-it notes just happen to be on my desk and it was the first thing I grabbed.  Once I stamped all of the images then I fussy cut them.  For masking I like to cut the images just inside the outline.  This helps to prevent getting the white space in between the images.  I stamped each image with Versamark Ink and then heat embossed using Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  For masking you want to stamp the image that you want in front first.  Then you add the mask on top of the image and then stamp another image.  Repeat.  When doing the masking technique you can stamp several images and once all of the masks are removed it will look like one larger image.

I wanted to do some ink blending for the background so I left all of the masks in place and I stamped and fussy cut a few more of the smallest flower.  I started with the ink blending right next to the flower cluster.  I started with Cracked Pistachio.  To do the ink blending I used the Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tools.  I used a lighter hand to ink blend the Cracked Pistachio.  I didn't want it to be too dark right next to the flowers.  Then, I added Peacock Feather, Mermaid Lagoon, and finished with Wilted Violet.  I used a heavier had for applying the Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet.

For this next part I got a little bit ahead of myself.  I used the Distress Spray Bottle to add the water droplets and then a paper towel to blot the water.  If I was going to do this again I would remove the masks before adding the water.  But luckily it all worked out.  :)

Here is a look at the card front once I finished the watercolor.  I used Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry for the flowers.  I used both colors for the smaller flowers.  I used Black Soot for the flower centers.  For the leaves I used Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feather,  Once the paper was dry I used a dry paper towel to go over the embossed areas and remove and excess color from the Distress Inks.  You can click on the image to enlarge and see more of the detail if you would like.

I wanted to stamp and emboss the sentiment on to a piece of black cardstock so I used the EK Success Powder Tool on the paper.  When you use the Powder Tool your embossing powder will only stick where you want it to.  I used Versamark Ink to stamp one of the sentiments from the Adore You Clear Stamp Set and then I added Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  I used a heat tool to melt and heat set the powders.  Then I let the paper cool for a couple of seconds and wiped away the powder residue from the  Powder Tool.  I cut the sentiment into a strip and then fussy cut the end for a banner.

I love the bright and vibrant color from the Distress Inks.  For a little bit of sparkle I added a few Iridescent Sequins.

Here is a close up of the sentiment.  I used some Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Foam Tape to pop up the sentiment.

To finish off the card I added Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Foam Tape to the back of the watercolor panel and then added that to a black A2 top folding card base.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Tulip Watercolor Card with Distress Inks

Hello everyone and happy Friday!  Today, I have a watercolor card to share with you using some of the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps and Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

For my card I started out with a piece of the Ranger Watercolor paper and I stamped the image of the tulip from the Get Well Tulip SS-014 stamp set with  VersaMark ink.  Then, I added Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder on top of the image and poured the excess into a coffee filter and then back into the jar.  I like to use a coffee filter when I am heat embossing or working with glitter.  I can dump all of the excess into the coffee filter and then easily add it back into the container.  Plus the coffee filter can be used many times.  Ok, back to the card -- I used my heat tool to melt and heat set the embossing powder.

When an image is heat embossed it makes it very easy to watercolor.  The raised edges of the embossing hold the watercolor in each area and allows you to very quickly watercolor.  If the image wasn't embossed you would have to color each area one at a time and you couldn't color areas right next to each other until they were dry or the color could bleed into the different areas.  I used Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet for the tulip and for the leaves I used Cracked Pistachio and Mowed Lawn.  I did a couple of layers of the watercolor starting out light and then adding darker color for the shading.  For the background I used Cracked Pistachio, Mowed Lawn, and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks.  I used the heat tool to dry the paper and then I lightly misted the paper with water.  I used a paper towel to blot up the excess water leaving little water droplet marks.

I trimmed the watercolor paper down to the size I needed and then I added a bow using some of the  May Arts Variegated Silk Ribbon Turquoise/Brown.  I love all of the colors of the variegated silk ribbon.  Then, I added a Prima Loraine Blue Lagoon Flower to the center of the bow.  For the sentiment I used a verse from the Fear Not SS-016 stamp set from Stamp Simply Clear Stamps.  I used VersaMark and Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder to stamp and heat emboss the sentiment.  Then I used some of the Peacock Feathers ink to add little paint splatters on the background of the card.  I added some 3D Foam Squares to the back of the watercolor panel and then added that to a white A2 top folding card base.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - My Cup of Tea Card - 2017 Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Hello everyone!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I am also participating in the 2017 Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  If you would like to participate and check out all of the fantastic cards you can click HERE for all of the details.

Here is a look at the card I designed.  I used some of the beautiful Graphic 45 Mon Amour pattern papers and the Altenew - Vintage Tea Cup clear stamp set.  I stamped the image of the tea cup and saucer on to a piece of the pattern paper using the Sand Dunes ink from the Altenew - Coffee Break 4 Ink Cubes.  Then I stamped the decorative details and small floral images with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens - Sugared Almond, Peach Pink, and Green Shadow to color the small floral images.

Next I used the  Altenew - Vintage Teacup Die to die cut the images.  I lightly inked the edges of the die cuts with Distress Ink - Vintage Photo.  I added 3D Foam Squares to the backside of the die cuts to add some dimension and then adhered the pieces to the front of the card.  For the background I used more of the beautiful Graphic 45 Mon Amour paper and then I added a layer of ivory cardstock.

I added some Katarina Ivory Venise Lace and then some May Arts Pink/Champagne Gypsy Variegated Silk Ribbon with a bow.  This ribbon is so pretty--I think it's going to be a new favorite.  To finish off the card I added the card front to a brown A2 top folding card base.  Then I added a few My Mind's Eye Charmed Enamel Dots and a Petaloo Botanica Collection - White Minis Flower to the center of the bow.  I also stamped a sentiment in the bottom corner.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - I Can Do All Things Through Christ - Distress Watercolor Card

Hello and Happy St. Patrick's Day!  The ground is still covered with snow here in Minnesota but according to the calendar the first day of Spring is this coming Monday, March 20th.  I am ready for some warmer weather and spring colors but since it's not going to look like Spring outside I figured I'd bring some inside and create a pretty floral card.

For my card I used a couple of the outline images from the Altenew - Painted Flowers clear stamp set.  I stamped the images with VersaMark and heat embossed them using Ranger Super Fine White Embossing Powder,  For the paper I used Ranger Watercolor.

The watercolor was done with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  I didn't do any fancy watercolor it was just wet on wet and dropping color in.  The wet on wet mean you wet the paper first with clean water and then add the watercolor.  I started with the flowers and added Shaded Lilac first.  Then I added in some Wilted Violet.  On the first layer of Wilted Violet I used more water to tone the color down a little bit.  Then I used a heat tool to dry the paper and added more of the Wilted Violet.  I wasn't too worried about staying in the lines with the watercolor.  For some images I like the look of the watercolor outside of the lines.  I call it messy watercolor--now there is a technical term for you lol. After the paper was dry then I started adding color to the leaves.  I used Cracked Pistachio for the leaves and for the first layer I used more water.  Then I added a couple more layers of the Cracked Pistachio.  Once I knew the paper was completely dry then I started to add clean water around the floral images at the top of the card and I added the water about an inch below the flowers.  By adding the clean water this will help the color to flow in the background and I can blend the color out into the white area of the card. For the background I used Blueprint Sketch.  I added a few layers of the Blueprint Sketch sketch and dried in between the layers.  Then I turned the card around and repeated the same steps.  For the last layer of color on both sides I let the paper air dry.

Once the paper was dry I stamped the sentiment from the Words of Encouragement SS-017 Stamp Simply Clear Stamps with Memento - Tuxedo Black ink.  Then I mixed some water with Black Soot ink and added some paint splatters.  Next, I added some May Arts Violet Silk Ribbon with a bow and a Petaloo Botanica Collection Gray Minis flower to the center of the bow.  I also added a few 5 mm Crystal Sequins for a little bit of sparkle.  Then to finish the card I added Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Foam Squares to the back of the watercolor panel and added that to a black A2 top folding card base.
