The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Christmas Candle and Matching Card Set

Hello everyone!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I have an altered candle and matching card set that is perfect for gift giving.

I know we all need quick and inexpensive gifts during the holiday season and these candles with a matching card are easy to make and very inexpensive.  I used some gold foil pattern paper from the Kaisercraft Yuletide 6 1/2'' Paper Pad to make a belly band around the candle and then I added some gorgeous Venise Lace.  I used a lot of the same products on both the candle and card.

I used some of the May Arts Satin Holly Leaves and I brushed Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue on the leaves and sprinkled with Tim Holtz Distress Glitter-Antique Linen.  I also added some glitter to the Glitter Jingle Bells - Gold Assorted.  Now these bells already come with gold glitter on them but I wanted to glitter to match the holly leaves so that is why I added more glitter.

After I added the holly leaves and bells then I added a pretty gold bow made with May Arts Metallic Gold String and the finish it off I added a few Kaisercraft Sparklets-Rouge to look like holly berries.

Here is a look at the matching card.  I used more pattern papers from the Kaisercraft Yuletide 6 1/2'' Paper Pad.  I created two die cuts using S2-120 Spellbinders Die D-Lites - Peace Sentiment, S4-418 Labels Thirty-Six.  I also used Bazzill Gold Mirror Cardstock on one of the die cuts.

Here is a close up of the card.  I fussy cut the center image with the sentiment from one of the sheets of paper in the same paper pad.  I love using little images like this.

ButterBeeScraps Enjoy the Journey Vintage/Shabby 8 x 10 Altered Canvas

Hello everyone!  Today, I have an altered 8 x 10 canvas to share with you.  

I used several metal filigree pieces from ButterBeeScraps to embellish the canvas.  I started by painting the edges of the canvas with ivory acrylic paint and then I added some Faded Jeans Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stain.  The Faded Jeans color was the perfect match for the flowers in the DCWV The Primrose pattern paper.  Next, I added a piece of the pattern paper to the background on the canvas.  I used a tiny dot stencil and a doily stencil with some homemade texture paste to add some interest and dimension to the background paper.  After the texture paste was dry I added some ivory acrylic paint and Antique Linen Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stain on top of the stencils.  Next, I fussy cut the postcards, ticket and banner pieces.  I distressed the edges on the postcards and ticket and added them to the center of the canvas.

I added Bronze Chain (Item #CH779-B) across the top of the canvas and then I added the banner pieces.  To decorate the banner pieces I added lace, Bronze Filigree 409-B, flat back pearls, and Pink Resin Roses.

On each side of the banner I left the chain longer to add some pearl dangles.  I used Bronze Ball End Head Pins, Bronze Filigree Bead Caps (Item #CAP052-B) and pearls to create the dangles.

In the lower left corner I added a doily and then I used one of the  Large Bronze Cameo Frames (Item #F623-B) with a  Large Oval Glass Cabochons (Item #CAB017) to create the sentiment.  The paper is from the same collection and I dry brushed some of the ivory paint on to the frame.  Then I added some WOC Flowers.

I create a couple more small flowers clusters on the other side of the canvas.  Then I added a Bronze Decorative Key and a Bronze Filigree Flower 124-B with a 6 mm flat back pearl on top.

I love how vintage and shabby this canvas turned out!  Don't forget you can click on all of the picture to enlarge them and see all the details.

Mixed Media Happiness Canvas and Fiskar Fuse

Hello everyone!  Today, I have something new, fun and a little different to share with you.  I know for a lot of crafters we have those moments when we see something new or new to us and we are very intrigued with the products and how they work.  Well, for me it's the Fiskars® Fuse Creativity System Die Cutting Machine and the die templates.  To be honest it was actually my husband who asked me if I had heard of these new dies LOL.  He stopped in at Joann's to pick something up for me (yes he is very sweet and shops at the craft stores for me!) and while he was there he saw the new machine and die templates.  I started looking around online and I loved the concept of these dies.  You can do five different techniques with the dies--Die-cut + Letterpress, Die-cut + Press Only, Die-cut Only, Letterpress Only, Press Only.  You can click HERE to see how it works.  Some of the die templates will cut thicker materials such as chipboard and other die templates cut more intricate designs and work best with cardstock.  You can also get expansion packs for more letterpress options.  

So are you ready to see a project?  I altered a 8 x 10 canvas and I used the Fiskar Fuse Medium Design Set 101910 - Mirror and Fiskar Fuse Medium Expansion Pack 101910 - Mirror to create the key plate on the canvas.

I just love how the canvas turned out and I love the key plate.  I took a few pictures, but not too many while I was creating.  I just wanted to have fun getting inky lol.

This is how the canvas started out.  I prepped the canvas with some white gesso and then I laid down some color with the Distress Sprays Stains.  I started out using Peeled Paint, Peacock Feathers.

After putting the first couple of colors on the canvas I added some torn pieces from old book pages.  Then I used texture paste and a few stencils to the background.  Here is a close up of the textured doily.  I just kept added sprays, paints and inks as I was going.

Here you can also see some of the dot texture and splatters from the Distress Spray Stains that I flicked on with a paint brush.

Here is a close up of the key plate.  I love the vintage look and feel I was able to achieve using a few different products.  

To create the key plate I cut three shapes using black fun foam and on one of the shapes I did the die cut and press only technique.  Then I created another die cut using chipboard.  For this piece I did the die cut and letterpress technique.

Next I cut the key holes from the two die cuts that had been pressed.  I used a craft knife for the chipboard and it was actually easier to use a scissors for the fun foam.

For the top piece I used some VersaMark ink and added Frantage Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel from Stampendous and heat set.  Then inked up the letterpress plate with Jet Black StazOn ink and ran the chipboard piece through the machine again.  Next I sanded and distressed the chipboard piece and once that was done I glued all of the pieces together.  I also added more of the embossing enamel around the outer edges and used a PITT Big Brush Pen Black 199 around the edges.  If you would like to see more of the Fiskar Fuse die templates and machine in action you can click HERE--scroll down just a bit and you will see a few different videos you can click on. 

I also used  Vintage Photo and Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stain and here you can see a little of the brown color.  The brushed pewter is really pretty and leaves a little bit of a shimmer.  I also dry brushed over some of the textured areas with white acrylic paint to make the texture pop a little more.

I think this is one of my favorite parts about the canvas--love this little bird!  This is from an older Prima stencil.  I used some of the Distress Spray Stains and a paint brush to apply the color.  

After I added the color to the bird and twig used both the Gelato-Squid Ink and PITT Big Brush Pen Black 199 to edge the canvas, word blocks, around the key plate and the image of the bird.

I'm not really sure what I am going to do with the canvas--but I had SO MUCH FUN creating it!!  Maybe I will put it in my store.  What do you think?  Yes, I am still working on getting the store up and going--hopefully soon!! :)

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Graphic 45 Good Ol' Sport 8 x 8 Canvas

Hello everyone!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I have a great masculine project to share with you.  I figured in the spirit of the new football season starting it would be the perfect time to break out the  Graphic 45 Good Ol' Sport Collection and see what I could come up with.

I altered an 8 x 8 canvas using some of the great papers from the collection.  I know at first glance you might think doing a canvas like this would take a long time but it actually came together really quick--just a little over an hour from start to finish.  I started but added some brown paint to the canvas and then using a paper towel to remove a lot of the paint.  I used two of the same sheets of paper and fussy cut several of the image from one sheet.  Then I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Vintage Photo and added 3D Foam Squares from  Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® to all the cut out pieces.  I added a strip of the May Arts 1.25" Woven Stripes Natural/Blue Ribbon to the side and then I began to adhere everything to the canvas.

Here you can see the dimension from the raised pieces. 

I also added a few Prima Everyday Vintage Sugardots in the corner of the larger image and then used one of the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Memo Pins to hold another piece of paper that says Touch Down.

This would be a great gift for any sports lover!

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Pay Ball Card and Peanut Gift Box Set

Hello everyone!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I have a fun, quick and easy masculine project that would be a great gift idea for the man who loves sports.

Here is the card and peanut gift box set that I designed.  How many of you have men in your lives that love sports and peanuts?  If they don't happen to like peanuts you could swap them out for their favorite candy or snack and maybe throw in a pair of tickets to a game.  :)

I love it when a project comes together so easily and whenever I work with the Graphic 45 papers that seems to happen.  The papers are so fabulous to work with!  For this project I used several different sheets of paper from the Graphic 45 Good Ol' Sport 8 x 8 Paper Pad collection.  I just did some fussy cutting, layering and adding a couple of embellishments and it was done.

Here is a look at the card.  I used ivory cardstock for a base and all of the papers came from the paper pad.  I fussy cut a few of the smaller images and the tickets.  Then I used  3D Foam Squares and EZ Runner® Permanent Strips-Refillable Dispenser 49' from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® to layer all of the pieces.  

I fussy cut two of the tickets and then used a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Memo Pin to hold them in place on the card.  Here is a little tip--when fussy cutting tickets used a round hole punch to punch of the corners and then trim the sides.  Doing this will give you nice clean and crisp corners and using the hole punch is a lot easier then trying to do that with a scissors.

Here is a close up of the couple of the images.  To finish off the card I added a few Prima Sugar Dots-Allstar for embellishments.

Here is the box of peanuts.  I used one of the Crystal Clear Boxes - A6.  I cut a piece of the pattern paper to fit on the inside of the box for a more finished look.  You can see just a little bit of the paper peaking through at the top of the box.

Using the same papers as I did fro the card I fussy cut and layered the paper and the images and added this to the front of the box.  I also added a few more of the Prima Sugar Dots-Allstar for embellishments.  Then I filled the box with honey roasted peanuts. 

I hope you enjoyed the card and peanut gift box today as much as I enjoyed creating it!  This is a great little gift idea for a man and using the Graphic 45 papers makes it so easy!  As always you can click on all the photos to enlarge them and all of the supplies are listed below with links.

Family Reunion - Celebrating Grandpa's Birthday - Family Farm - Barn Board Bezels

Hello everyone!  This past weekend was a little busy around here.  On Saturday we had our family reunion and then on Sunday we celebrated my Grandpa's 84th birthday!  It was so great to see all of the family together--to visit and catch up with everyone, have some wonderful food (we had a hog roast), play games, look at old photo, share memories of the past and create new memories.

For the past few years when everyone is home for the reunion we always try to get a few pictures of  my aunts and uncles with my grandpa.

We were taking a few practice shots before my grandpa came outside.  My mom is the first one and then it's my uncle John, aunt Gail (she's the crafty one), aunt Cory, and my uncle Brian.  

Here is a picture with my Grandpa and all of his kids.

This one is my Grandpa and Grandma.  I can't believe he is going to be 84 on Wednesday!  He is still very active and young at heart.  I don't even have the words that could come close to describing how much I love him and how special he is.  He has always been such a huge part of my life.  We are the only two in the family who are left handed (southpaws).  As he would say we are the only ones in our right minds--LOL!  When I was little I was such a tomboy and I was always tagging along with my grandpa on the farm.  I loved being around all of the animals and nature and hanging out with him.  He has taught me so many important life lessons, to be kind, what it means to be a good person, to be true to yourself, to love, to forgive, to believe in God and how important family is--an many, many more things over the years.

Here is a picture of my mom and grandpa.  I love this picture!  

Here is a picture of the barn on the family farm that I took at the last reunion.  This is the farm that my grandpa lived on for many years and after he retired my uncle John who had farmed with my grandpa for years took over the farm and his family moved there.  The barn is no longer standing--it was just getting too old.  But my uncle John still has a lot of the barn boards.  He has made some fantastic pieces out of the barn board.  Both of my uncles and my grandpa are great with wood working!  In fact my uncle John made me a wine tote (for wine bottles) and a few frames for my birthday.  I'll have to post some pictures of them.  Anyways I have been wanting to make something with the barn board and put my own spin on it but I couldn't figure out what to create until just recently and then one day it hit me--I could make some bezels with pieces of the barn board.  I could preserve them forever in ICE Resin! :)  So I thought it would be perfect timing with everyone home to make some bezels for my mom, aunts, uncles and my grandpa.

These are the bezels I created.  I re-sized the picture of the barn so it would fit inside the bezel.  Then I had my husband help me to cut off some thinner pieces of the barn board and then I cut them down to size to fit in the bezel and frame the picture.  I added a piece of old book paper behind the photo because I knew there would be a few small little places that wouldn't be covered by the wood and I didn't just want it to be an empty space.  Then I added ICE Resin.  For the ladies I added small keys and for the guys I added a small gear.  I didn't want to add too much to the bezels because I wanted the picture and pieces of barn board to be the main focus.  I wrapped the bezels up and put them in gift bags and gave them to everyone as shown in the picture above and then I left it up to them if they wanted to make it into a key chain or put a magnet on the back.  They did a little of both.

My mom and aunt Gail decided they wanted to have magnets and my aunt Cory wanted to have a key chain.  I had some old jewelry that was from my grandma.  She was my grandpa's first wife and mother to my mom and her bothers and sisters and she passed away several years ago.  I used some of the jewelry pieces to create the dangles on their bezels.  Everyone really liked the bezels and thought it was pretty neat that the barn board was in there and it will always be preserved.

JustRite Tuesday Tutorial - DIY Tabletop Charms - Day Nine of the July New Release

Hello everyone!  Today, is day nine of the JustRite® Papercraft July New Release and it is also Tuesday Tutorial.  I have a fun, quick and easy DIY project to share with you.

I used the large ornament stamp from the CL-02057 Merry Christmas Ornament Cling Stamp set and Skrinky Dink plastic to create fun little charms to add to your home decor pieces.  These little charms could also be added to cards, tags and gift bags.  They also make great little embellishments for your altered items.
