JustRite Crafting for a Cause - Strength & Courage Stamp Set

Good morning blogging friends! Today, I have a card to share with you using the New Release JB-09930 Strength & Courage stamp set from JustRite Stampers.

As you can see this is a beautiful stamp set with 4 Designer Centers and 4 Interchangeable Borders. JustRite Stampers will have two New Releases for the month of August, Be Strong and Strength & Courage. Before I get started with my card let me share with you what JustRite Crafting for a Cause is all about and a very touching story from Amy Tedder, the illustrator and graphic designer for JustRite.

JustRite Crafting For a Cause

In an effort to find an early diagnostic test or screening tool for Ovarian Cancer, JustRite Crafting For a Cause will donate 20% of the sales from Be Strong and Courage and Strength in 2011 to Ovarian Cancer Research. To learn more about the symptoms of this “silent killer “ visit the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.

Hi! I am Amy Tedder, the illustrator and graphic designer for JustRite, I am celebrating 6 years of being ovarian cancer free! I am hoping you will join me in the JustRite Crafting For a Cause Fundraiser.

Ovarian cancer is one of the deadliest cancers because it goes unnoticed for years. They call it the “silent killer.” Most women can shrug off the symptoms as other things. My only symptom was that I was so tired. “But...having 3 children will do that to you!” My regular doctor found my cancer when I was 39 years old and scheduled me an appointment with the best oncologist in South Carolina. My doctor found my cancer because he took a risk and ran a test that my insurance might not have covered.

Today, we need to encourage all the women we know and love to go for their yearly check ups. If there is any kind of family cancer they need to insist on having the lab work done. I am finding that each woman has to be her own advocate. No one else will automatically do it for us. We have to schedule the appointments, WE have to request the tests, WE have to look for ways to protect our own health and take time to take care of ourselves. Just make your appointment and make your mother, sisters and friends schedule their appointments!

“During my cancer recovery I was blessed to receive cards and notes from friends to encourage me. My hope is that you will use these stamps to encourage your loved ones that are the care givers or are fighting cancer. “

—Amy

What a beautiful story from Amy and we are so glad her doctor took the chance and ran the test!! I think almost everyone has been effected by cancer in one form or another--personally, a loved one or through a friend. I hope you will join us with JustRite Crafting for a Cause!! Here is the card that I designed using JB-09930 Strength & Courage and my card is pink representing breast cancer. There are so many different kinds of cancer and one of the things that I personally like with the JB-09930 Strength & Courage stamp set is that you can personalize your card with the color of your ribbon. To start I stamped the image using Tuxedo Black ink on to Simply Smooth White cardstock and then I added the color using Copic markers R83 and RV55.I used S4-314 Lacey Ovals and the Grand Calibur from Spellbinders to cut/emboss the oval shape. Then I inked the edges using Spun Sugar Distress Ink.Next, I added the die cut to a piece of matching Nestaboard™ Lacey Ovals from Want2Scrap™.I stamped the center image again with Tuxedo Black ink and added a little color using Spun Sugar Distress Ink and then I hand cut the sentiment, Hope from the center. I also made two die cuts using S5-059 Ironwork Motifs. I layered all of the pieces using 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L™. I added Pink Rhinestones and White Pearls from Want2Scrap™ and then for a little added sparkle I used Diamond Stickles.I created a border using the flourish stamp from the CL-o2095 Kindness stamp set and I added Diamond Stickles to the flourishes. I also added a little butterfly to symbolize hope.
For the base of the card I layered Soot, Simply Smooth White, Azalea Metallic and Frosted Pink Prismatic. All of the cardstock is from Discount Cardstock.
