Crafty Secrets Christmas DT Challenge

It's time for another Crafty Secrets DT Challenge! For this month's challenge, Vicki Chrisman, our Design Team Leader asked all of us DT ladies to make a Christmas project of our choice. We could make a card, altered item, tag, LO or whatever we would like. One of my favorite Crafty Secrets Christmas images is the large vintage Santa on the Winter Cotton Scraps and I thought it would be perfect to put in an altered frame.Using the Wizard from Spellbinders along with the Curved Mega Rectangles (S5-006) die I cut out the Cotton Scraps. Then I added some stickles to the image. I used three different colors of stickles, gold, lime green and diamond. I also added three tiny rhinestones for pink little berries by the holly on Santa's hat. Then using a larger size of the curved rectangle die I made a mat for behind the Santa picture. The mat and the roses above the Santa are both from the Crafty Secrets Classic Paper Pad. I did some detailed cutting around the roses and added some foam tape on the back to give it some dimension. I also added some pine sprigs, a pine cone, a piece from an old necklace and a green bow at the top of the frame.

Here is a close up of the bottom of the frame. As you can see, I added a piece of lace and then added a few crystals. The crystals are from Heidi Swapp. If you click on the picture to enlarge it you will also see a crackle finish. The frame was a find at a thrift store and it already had an ivory base so I added the crackle medium and then glimmer mist. This part of the project took longer to do then the rest of it all together-LOL! Mostly it was just the drying time.

Don't forget to check out all of the Crafty Secrets DT ladies blog's--I know they will have some fabulous designs to inspire you!! Some of the ladies are giving away some sweet blog candy so you don't want to miss out on that! Sandy is also having some fantastic give-a-ways on the Crafty Secrets Blog and you can also check out Crafty Secrets Guest Designer, Amber Tosh and see some of her beautiful designs!

Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you are off to a wonderful start with the holiday season!!

Smiles!
Heidi
