My Dad's Birthday Card

My Dad's birthday was last Monday but because of everyone's schedules we weren't able to get together until this Sunday. We went over to my parents in the afternoon to celebrate. We brought over and angel food cake with strawberries and cool-whip. It was really yummy and hit the spot on a hot day. My Dad loves to be in the garden, working up the dirt and planting a wide variety of plants. My Dad and Mom both really enjoy gardening and they have a large veggie garden and then two large flower gardens and a few smaller ones in between. It is so beautiful in the summer and I know they put a lot into it!! So for my Dad's BDay we got him a GC for one of the garden centers here in town. I know it will be put to good use!

I had a lot of fun making Dad's BDay card! I got to play around with my AI's and make a really neat background. I love using AI's there is just so much you can do with them! I found a really nice poem and wanted to work it into the card. In one of the first few sentences it talks about the quiet of the sea, so I thought I would go with a underwater/ocean theme. I used transparencies and a bottle stamp, a ship wreck stamp and tiny glass beadz to make the bottle. Then I mounted it to a piece of white CS with the bottle raised in the center to give it some dimension. I was really happy with how it turned out and I think he liked it too! Happy Birthday Dad!!
Here is a close up of the bottle

Supplies:
Paper:SU-Whisper White, White Glossy, Basic Black, Ballet Blue, Cool Caribbean
Inks:Stazon-Black, Ranger AI's-Stream, Lettuce & Eggplant
Markers:Sharpie
Embellishments:From my Stash-Transparencies, Wonder Tape Sheets, Clear Beadz, Silver Cord, Colored Beads

Here is the poem

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea…

The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... Dad
