The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Give Thanks Card with Rock-N-Roll Watercolor Technique

Hello everyone and happy Friday!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I have a pretty Fall themed card to share with you using the Rock-n-Roll inking technique and a little water to achieve a watercolor look.

Here is a look at the card I designed.  At first glance it looks like a watercolor card that might have taken awhile to create but it doesn't, it's actually very quick and easy.  If you are new to stamping and not familiar with the Rock-n-Roll technique it is really easy.  You will need to colors of ink for you stamp.  First ink up your stamp with a base coat of ink (this should be the lighter of the two colors).  Then take the second ink (the darker one) and rock-n-roll the ink pad around the edges of the stamp.  Doing this will give you a two tone image.  I stamped all of the leaf images using this technique.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks and I stamped the images on to Watercolor paper.  The leaf images are from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Harvest SS-010 and Give Thanks SS-009 stamp sets. After all the images were stamped I sprayed water on the paper using the Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer.  You can either let the water do all the work on the paper or if you want to move the colors around a little and blend them you can use a paint brush with some water.  I used a heat tool to speed up the process of drying the paper.  Then I used some of the  walnut stain ink with some water and a paint brush to add the paint splatters.  I did go ink with a paint brush and some water and soften up the area around some of the paint splatters.

I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of black cardstock using  VersaMark Ink.  Then I added Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder to heat emboss the sentiment.  I layered the pieces on to a black A2 top folding card base and added a few My Mind's Eye Record It Enamel Dots to finish off the card.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Give Thanks Distress Oxide Inks Smooshing Technique and Tutorial

Hello everyone and happy Friday!  This was the last full week before school starts back up and gosh it seems like it just flew by.  Actually the summer seems like it went by really fast.  Our youngest is going to be a Junior this year---they grow up so fast!!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  I have a card to share with you using the ink smooshing technique with Distress Oxide Inks.

Here is a look at the card I designed.  I used two of the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps set Give Thanks SS-009 and Harvest SS-010 for my card.

To start, I smooshed the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks - Fired Brick, Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo onto the Ranger Craft Mat.  Then I used the Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer to add water to the inks.  Next, I took a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper and smooshed it into the ink.  I used a heat tool to dry and heat set the inks.  I repeated the process until I achieved a look I liked.

Here is a look at the paper once all of the color was added.

Next, I wanted to heat emboss so I prepped the paper with the EK Success Powder Tool.  Then, I randomly stamped the leaf images from both of the stamp sets using VersaMark Ink.  I added Ranger Super Fine Detailed Gold Embossing Powder and used a heat tool to melt and heat set the powder.

I wanted to fade the background so the leaves would be the main focus of the card.  I took a paint brush and water and added water to the background and then used a paper towel to blot up the water.  Doing this removed some of the color.  I worked in small areas and repeated the process 2-3 times until I like the look of the background.

Here is a look at the paper after removing some of the background color.  The leaves are a little darker in color and you could stop here if you wanted to.  But I knew if I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the leaves it would pull the color forward and really make the colors in the leaves pop.

It's amazing what some glossy accents can do!  I love how these leaves look!  

I heat embossed the sentiment from the Give Thanks SS-009 stamp set onto a strip of brown paper and then I added Foam Tape to the back.  The card base is a kraft A2 top folding card with a brown mat. 

To finish off the card I added a few Prima Say It In Crystals Amber Moon.  The colors match perfectly and I love the added sparkle.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Coneflower Happy Birthday Watercolor and Stencil Card

Hello everyone!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I have a small tutorial to share with you on how I created my card.

Here is a look at the card I designed.  It looks pretty simple but it does have a couple of techniques going on.  I wanted the flower to take center stage but I also wanted a soft background instead of just a white background.

The flower image is from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Thank You For Caring Coneflower SS-019 stamp set.  I stamped and heat embossed the image on to a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper using  Ranger Super Fine Embossing Powder - Clear.  Then I stamped the image onto a couple of post-it notes and fussy cut it out to create a mask.  Usually I like to use the Inkadinkado Stamping Mask Paper but I'm currently out of the masking paper.  The masking paper is so quick and easy to use.  I placed the mask on top of the stamped image.  Then I taped the stencil in place over the paper.  The stencil I used is the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil Woodgrain.  As you can see the paper is larger then the stencil so I did have to re-position the stencil a couple of times and continue to add the ink.  For the stenciled background I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Hickory Smoke and Pumice Stone along with the Mini Ink Blending Tools to add the ink.

After the stenciling was done I removed the mask.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Squeezed Lemonade, Fossilized Amber, Carved Pumpkin, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Walnut Stain to watercolor the flower image.

Once all of the watercolor was done then I added Zig Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen to the flower image.  Here is a close up so you can see some of the sparkle. 

Here is a close up of the finished card.  I also decided to add a layer of Ranger Glossy Accents to the flower.

To finish off the card I stamped the sentiment from the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - All Occasion Sentiments SET 1 SS-030 with VersaMark Ink onto black cardstock and then heat embossed with Ranger Super Fine Embossing Powder - White.  I trimmed the black cardstock down and added some May Arts Gold Metallic String.  I also added some May Arts Ribbon Sampler - Delicate Vintage Lace and a few Simple Stories So Fancy Enamel Dots.  The card base is a black A2 top folding card.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Amazing Grace Card with Stenciling

Hello and happy Friday to everyone!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I have a card to share with you using the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil - Splash and some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks.

Now I know the stencil is supposed to look like splashes and it does but it also reminds me of flower petals when the stencil is put on the side.  It reminds me of chrysanthemum flowers.  I taped the stencil in place with some low tack tape and then I used the mini blending tools with three of the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks - Broken China, Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon.  I know it's a bit hard to see the different colors in the photos and I am sorry about that.  I don't know if it was the lighting or what but it kind of looks like it's all the same color in the photos but in real life you can see the three colors on the card lol.  I started with broken china at the top, salty ocean in the middle and then mermaid lagoon is on the bottom.

For the sentiment I used one of the stamps from the  Stamp Simply Clear Stamps - Farmhouse Scriptural Thoughts SS-025 stamp set.  To get the two different colors of ink I used the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform and I masked part of the stamp with some paper and inked it up with salty ocean ink.  I removed the paper and stamped the sentiment.  Then, I repeated the process by covering up the other part of the sentiment and inking it with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  The stamp platform works perfectly for doing the two tone stamping.  Then I added some May Arts 5/8" Adhesive Rosettes - Black ribbon across the front of the card.  I also added some Petaloo Botanica Colections Baby Blooms Blue, Baby Blooms Teal and for a bit of sparkle I added a few Prima Say It With Crystals Zella Teal.

I used Scrapbook Adhesives By 3L Foam Tape in between the cardstock layers and that finished off the card.  The card base is a white A2 top folding card.
