The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Butterflies for You Card with Distress Ink Tutorial

Hello blogging friends!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  Using Tim Holtz Distress Inks, a stencil and a baby wipe I created a beautiful background for my card.  I have a a step-by-step tutorial to share with you so you can create the look too.

Before I share that card with you I wanted to share a before picture of the background paper. This is a piece of pattern paper from the KaiserCraft - Treasured Moments 6-1/2'' Paper Pad.  The butterflies are a black gloss--kind of like if they were embossed.  If you don't have any pattern paper like this you could certainly create your own by using black pigment ink and clear embossing powder to stamp and heat emboss the images.

Here is a look at the card I designed.  No more white paper!  For my card I chose a color palette based off of the monarch butterfly on the smaller image so I went with oranges and brown.  But you could do this same technique with any color combination you would like.

I added the three colors of  Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Spiced MarmaladeRipe Persimmon and Vintage Photo.  I used a cotton ball to apply the ink to the paper.

Here is a close up of the colorful paper.

Next I placed the Prima Elementals Bubble Stencil on top of the pattern paper and I used a baby wipe to blot the paper through the stencil and remove some of the ink.  I moved the stencil a couple of times continued to use the baby wipe to remove more ink.

Using the baby wipe to pick up some of the color and moving the stencil around will give the paper kind of a watercolor droplet look--the same look when you apply ink to paper, add water droplets and blot the paper.  This picture was taken when the paper was a little damp and I used the heat tool to dry it and then the watermark areas really popped and showed up even more on the paper.

The smaller image is also from the paper pad and I die cut a Spellbinders Labels Thirty-Four shape and layered the two pieces together adding Therm-O-Web Foam Squares in between the layers.  I also added some Petaloo Botanica Collection Faux Dried Floral Alephemere CranberrySay It In Crystals Combo Pack - A Victorian Christmas and  May Arts Black Silk Ribbon 1/4''.

Here you can see a close up of the paper once it was heat set.  The watermarks stand out even more and the colors are so vibrant.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and you will give it a try.  It's a fun way to totally change the look of your pattern paper.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Life's Greatest Treasure Card

Hello blogging friends!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  I have a pretty quick and easy card to share with you using the Kaisercraft - Provincial 6-1/2'' Paper Pad.  I just love the Kaisercraft paper pads--the images are always so beautiful and there are several dic cut images, sentiments and borders included.

This card has a beautiful mix of soft gray and silver with just a little pop of color.  The sentiment and scalloped border are from the paper pad.  I used a light gray for the card base and layered a piece of the pattern paper on top.  I used Spellbinders Labels Thirty-Nine to create two layers of die cuts--one with the light gray cardstock and one with Bazzill - Silver Mirror Cardstock.  I also cut a thin strip of the Bazzill - Silver Mirror Cardstock and added it right about the scalloped border. I used Therm-O-Web Foam Squares in between the layers for some dimension.

Here is a close up of the sentiment.  I added one of the flowers and a leaf from the Prima Flowers - Laraine Blue Lagoon and some Melissa Frances - White Pearls.

At the top of the card I added some May Arts - 1.5" Sheer w/Glitter Dots - White/Silver  and another flower and leaf from the Prima Flowers - Laraine Blue Lagoon.  I love the sheer ribbon with the glitter dots--it comes in several colors and I it's one of my favorites.  I love that it's sheer and it has just the right amount of sparkle.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Adore Valentine's Day Card

Here is the card I designed using the gorgeous papers from the Authentique Adore 6 x 6 Paper Collection.  I love this paper collection--beautiful images and colors in all of the papers.  I used one of the Wilton 4 in White Doily and applied some of the Tim Holtz Distress Ink Spun Sugar around the edges.  I added that on top of the paper and then I added one of the cutouts from that paper collection.  I added layers of pink and ivory cardstock to the back of the image and also for the card base.  Then I added the May Arts 1.5" Printed Ribbon - With Love Pink.  This ribbon is so soft and pretty and I love the gold foil printed With Love.

I used flowers from a couple of different packages of Petaloo Botanica Collection.  The larger flower is from the Mums & Butterflies Pink.  The smaller flowers are from the Botanica Minis Fuchia.

To tie in for the gold on the ribbon I added some May Arts Gold Metallic String behind the flowers.  Then to finish off the card I added some Melissa Frances Cream Pearls.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store - Lots of Love Valentine Card - Crate Paper Hello Love

Hello blogging friends!  Today, is my day to post for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  I have a CAS (Clean And Simple) Valentine's Day card to share with you using some of the new papers from the Crate Paper - Hello Love collection.  I know we are just barely in to the New Year but Valentine's Day will be here before we know it. :)  One of the great things about Valentine's papers is for the most part a lot of the collections can be used all throughout the year.  Several collections have floral prints and yes hearts but hearts can be used for several things--anniversary, birthday, I love you or even all occasions cards. So don't just make a few Valentine's day cards with the paper collection--keep it out and use it during the year.

Here is the card I designed using the Crate Paper - Hello Love collection.  These papers and this card is a perfect example of what could be used throughout the year.  Even though I am calling this a Valentine's Day card it could actually be used for several different occasions.  Just a little something to keep in mind when looking at your pattern papers.

The Lot of Love sentiment is from the paper collection.  I cut it out and then layered it with some gray cardstock to match the paper.  I used Therm-O-Web Foam Squares in between the layers for a little dimension.  Then I added some rosettes from the Prima Say It In Crystals Adhesive Rosette Butterfly Collection.  For the bow I used May Arts 1/4'' Rose Silk Ribbon.  Then I added a flower from the Prima Bloom Collection Freshly Picked collection.

I used one of the floral patterns from the paper collection and then I layered it with gray cardstock and adhered it to a black card base.  CAS and quick and easy!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
